Meanwhile in Iran

No tags, links or clips by myself

Just a recommendation which I've mentioned before

Watch Bitter Lake by Adam Curtis

It's the closest explanation I've seen to our relatively modern fucked up world

What was the original routing?

Munich direct to Bangkok

The talks started years ago

They keep getting interrupted by Israel and the US backing out of agreements and bombing the shit out of Iran

Agreements that Iran wasn't sticking too nether.

Whilst continually funding and conducting terrorism, either directly or via proxies.

Trump is a cunt, but by the fuck it is remarkable how many seem happy to turn a blind eye to it all, and just lay blame in one direction.

When those who have been oppressed over there are delighting in the action, then maybe it's not so bad after all.

Just like Hungary, and its move away from potential dictatorship and tyranny, Iran's people was their own freedom.

That's a shitty alternative they've given you.
What was the reason for cancellation?

Their pilots and crew are on strike and there's no sure sign about when it'll be over.

They didn't give us an alternative. They basically said they couldn't find us an alternative and suggested that we cancel and rebook.

We've no choice really - or we're stuck. And obviously very apprehensive about the flight home - but apparently Qatar are taking a very risk averse approach and will cancel or reroute if there's an issue. The risk is more around further delays or cancellations if things deteriorate.

Flights via Singapore etc have all shot up in price. This one has cost me £1600 just to get home - but I should be able to get compo through that EU scheme which we're still party to.

So yeah - not the journey home we'd planned. Specifically as we bypassed the middle east because of the trouble in Iran.

Has everything that has happened actually achieved anything, other than making some traders a lot of money?

It was stated at the start it wasn't about regime change and there hasn't been any so far

It doesn't feel like progress

My wife flew Manchester - Doha - Sydney with Qatar on Thursday, no bother, plane 25% full, loads of room to lie down.

It's heartening to see people waking up to all this obvious Far Right corruption, but also very disappointing that they fell for it in the first place. Farage and Reform will be more of this. Bollocks about immigrants will be their way into power, and if you thought the Liz Truss budget was disastrous, you aint seen nothin yet.

They keep getting interrupted by Iran firing thousands of missiles at Israel and financing the likes of October 7th.

Thanks mate. That's reassuring!

The situation is nowhere near as bad as the airlines/media have made out.

People are still on holiday in Qatar & the UAE, flights are coming and going on a regular basis, but I fear some airlines have taken the "opportunity" to cancel some less profitable routes and jack the prices up on the alternatives, which is hard to swallow as flight prices are already on the rise due to fuel surcharges.

That's why we made the decision to fly via Hamad in the end.

If they're still letting this many commercial flights though then they must be absolutely confident that risks are minimal.

And like you say - we might get an opportunity to stretch out in the plane! 😁 Plus another few days on Samui isn't the end of the world!

The longer in Samui, the better.
Ask me for a deal next time 😉

Well, Trump has announced the Strait of Hormuz is now permantly open. Hurrah.

China is very happy that I am permanently opening the Strait of Hormuz. I am doing it for them, also - And the World. This situation will never happen again. They have agreed not to send weapons to Iran. President Xi will give me a big, fat, hug when I get there in a few weeks. We are working together smartly, and very well! Doesn’t that beat fighting??? BUT REMEMBER, we are very good at fighting, if we have to - far better than anyone else!!! President DJT

I will mate. I should have done this time but we've done a lot of moving around. I think I'll be back late July time so I'll drop you a message.

Kob Khun Khrap! 🙏

Bugger, it seems that Donald may not have been telling the truth, as Iran are still blocking it according to the news

But he said he'd wiped out all their naval capabilities

It's funny that when he makes these announcements, the price of oil fluctuates

It's almost like people are making money out of all these announcements

Btw - where’s that “Board of Peace” gone in all this? That $1Bn-a-pop group set up by Trumpy to line his own pockets, I mean offer an alternative to the UN. Surely they were ideally positioned to broker a peace deal here - would have been a piece of cake for them given such an illustrious membership.

The Dunning–Kruger effect isn't enough to explain their utter stupidity and lack of awareness of such.

“Straight of Vermouth” 😂. And this guy is (slightly) less thick than the rest of them.
