Anyway, job done, no longer need to have Wembley pencilled in for April, and Cardiff will be on a Saturday.  And no more of these morgue/Covid-like games in an echoey stadium, with everyone trying to pretend it matters.  It doesn't, and I can't believe how seriously some are taking that game in the context of the season.

Thought we would improve with the subs, we went backwards if that was possible....Some of the worst individual performances i have seen in a white shirt

Infuriating that we seemingly have to make all these subs every game. We had started the second half pretty well and then the subs ruin all momentum.

Just seems to be a modern manager trait to sub everyone possible

Out of context I couldn't give two hoots. Glad we are out.

Mcatee when he came on oh dear!

He was the best of the 4 forwards.  The only one to control the ball more than once and make decent passes.  And not just getting knocked off the ball like Forss.

Forss is an off the last shoulder finisher, if he could hold the ball up like a no9, he'd be either a worse off the last shoulder finisher or not in league 1.

The tactics we play dont allow him to be a last shoulder finisher, he's being forced to be some kind of weird winger/ half striker.

Gale shouldn’t be allowed to shoot from outside the box.

Anyone remember how many goals Sammy Ameobi, Will Buckley, Liam Feeney or Filipe Morais got on the wing in league 1. It wasn't many, the fact we're expecting our wingers to seeminly be our main goal scoring threat is insane.

For balance (and I’m not sure I even believe there’s balance given the run it is a part of but I’ll say it anyway)

The wins in this cup have been meaningless. We’ve looked like the best team on the planet at times (eg. v Bradford) but it hasn’t translated to the league. The players don’t care about these games, you can’t artificially create that extra 5-10% that a genuinely competitive game has. Maybe they should be able to, it’s their job at the end of the day, but the games in this cup are garbage, whether you win or lose.

In isolation, I wouldn’t look too much into it. However, as part of the longer run and with questions around whether the players are still with him, it’s probably another nail in the coffin regardless as to whether it means anything.

It's not like cup results/performances have been totally random though. We drew the first cup game of the season (and drew the next home game) and have won four home cup ties since (and won the subsequent home game after each).

I'm not saying those are directly linked, but regardless of whether the players care or not we weren't losing these games earlier in the season.

This is like when people say that Dalby isn't shit we just don't play to his incredibly narrow strengths.

I just don't believe that we're sitting on an ace target man and potent finisher and the coaching staff haven't noticed.

These qualities would've shone through in other areas if they existed.

All I'm saying is that these features like Dalby as a target man or Fross as a poacher etc are all things you want in a team that's built for versatility, the issue is were not versatile in attack.

Every attack is...ball gets passed to winger, winger stops with ball, runs with ball then cuts inside to shoot.

If there was some variety with overlaps, underlaps, with getting to the byline, hitting it first time, or playing down the middle. Then those features would present themselves and not be hidden. It would also make marking our wingers much much harder, which then means they stand a bigger chance of scoring those cuts inside.

It all feeds into eachother.

Stephen if you’re going to play the wingers on Saturday at Wigan then FFS PLAY THEM ON THEIR NATURAL SIDE. How long before you see it doesn’t work inverted. Keep it simple stupid.

I so wanted SS to succeed but it is, slowly becoming difficult to defend his lack of impact.

The variation of formations is a mute point. None of them seem to work for our players/manager.

He still doesn't know his best 11.

Quickly looking like a mid table league position, given what we have spent relative to many other clubs and the poor standard of this league, that is just not good enough.

It's shit when the manager fails you but it might be happening again.

Saved me a small fortune on a potential Wembley game that I, and I'm sure many, were not arsed with. I didn't want to do the Tinpot Trophy again at the best of times, let alone right now.

Timing couldn't be much worse. But, besides knowing Taylor is light years from the first team squad, are we in that much a worse position than 6pm?

That said, performances like that - I don't see how Schumacher rescues this from here, especially with Wigan on the horizon. Heaven forbid we go 1 down early there; it will be as toxic as Rotherham away, roughly 12 months ago.

Shit or bust, Steve.

I’ve cancelled the hotel I had booked just in case.

If we carry on playing the way we are I might have to cancel my play off final hotel as well.

Then we agree.

Not at all

Would it not be so BWFC on Saturday to win the game that none of us expect to do and come roaring back? Watching that interview, Schuey still looks on this planet, composed. With Evatt, it was a totally different picture near the end.

Can’t think of us having done that ever.

Losing to teams who haven’t won in 10. Done that hundreds of times.

Conceding against teams who haven’t scored in 8 matches. Sure bet.

Playing crap infront of big away crowds. Almost a certainty

You do realise that they will still come Inside. It's the type of player they are , doesn't matter what side they are on.

Would you rather have them coming inside on their stronger or weaker foot?

SS comments concern me, he said we were ok, not great, for 60 minutes. We were not ok, we were well off it. I am worried he thinks that is ok as the stats might show a slightly different story. Bar 5 minutes of the first half where we probably were, just about ok, for the other 40 we were bad and then got worse after the subs.

Mad how hardly any Bolton 'fans' were arsed before this game and now wow,  its all ss out !

Really wouldn't want a lot of so called Bolton 'fans' in the trenches wi me.   Way to many fairweather fans who now have the platforms to moan like fook.
