Politics - Part 2

Kemi Badenoch doesn’t really need to speak in public more than once a month and she’ll do ok. In that respect, keeping her head down is proving very effective.

Sniping from the sidelines and criticising everyone clearly has merit. 🙃

This is part 2 of the Politics discussion.

Yep and only 33% who could be bothered to, voted for this Labour government. With a turnout of only 60% (2nd lowest since 2018) I’d guess only around 20%ish of eligible voters voted Labour. It just makes a mockery of Starmer’s constant claims that they had a huge mandate.

Yes it’s the peculiarity of our voting system but the huge majority gave them a false sense of infallibility. IMO.

If 40% can’t be arsed voting then their opinions count for the square root of fuck all I’m afraid.

You’re basically asking to be governed by whoever those who could be bothered to get off their arse votes for

Fuck em, frankly.

I imagine it'll be a much higher turn out next time, if it ends up being a race between Labour and Reform as looks likely.

Even Ferrari on LBC who usually spends his time rimming Farage asked him about the £5m this morning. He does get rather flustered does thin skinned Nigel.

Just watched his resignation speech. We really didn't need that music playing in the background.

Whatever you think of him, as Prime Minister, I think he deserved 5 minutes to say his piece to the British people with a bit of dignity.

That's the problem with our crop of politicians on both sides, they want to make it all about "them" and their wives and families like some Eastenders episode.

My standard resignation speech as previously delivered:

"You're not pumping me you bastards, here's my JL (Jacking Letter) and you can stick that in you effin pipe and smoke it" followed by upending the bosses desk onto his lap and walking out

Not due any redundancy?

Not sure how King Charles would take the desk overthrown

Reform will have spuffed their load and had their core diluted by restore by then I reckon. They've peaked. Lost their last 5 by elections I read today.

Be back to Labour v Tories.

I really hope so mate. But they've got a very nasty core that are going to take some shifting.

I do think they peaked about a year ago mind.

Reform are massively reliant on Farage and this £5m bung just stinks and is impossible to just shrug off

Cunt couldn't lie straight in bed.

"It was for security"

"Actually, it was a reward for Brexit"

"Actually, it was an unconditional gift"

"Actually, it's none of your business"

With FPTP folk will have to hold their nose again and vote Labour if they want to stop reform.

Burnham (or whoever gets the job) will have a mighty task on his hands convincing those to the left that Labour are worthy of their vote above just not being Reform or the Tories .

In an earlier interview with BBC Radio 4’s Today programme, Farage said it was not hypocritical of him to have attacked Keir Starmer for receiving donations of glasses and suits, because the Labour politician had been “the leader of the opposition and I was a presenter on GB News”.

(and the owner of a political party)

Who declared he wasn't standing, then changed his mind shortly after the "non-political donation"...

He (Farage) is probably right. However the attacks obviously weren’t as violent as the ones JOB mentions. Bit low of him really using their deaths to try and gain a few points

he might be right but given the attacks consisted of eggs, milkshakes and a coffee cup, I think suggesting he needs £5M for security is a stretch

They are reliant on him, and I still can't feel that he's any intention of sticking around for a GE. I also agree that Reform probably have peaked, that's not to say they won't have a massive say in the next GE, whenever that is. I'm sure over the coming weeks, if/when Burnham is put in place, both Reform and the Tories will say that he has no mandate and then start demanding a GE is called......the truth is though, both of those parties (especially Reform) would absolutely shit their pants if one was called now, Reform mainly because they just wouldn't have the ability to vet and secure enough candidates to stand in every seat (as things stand today) also I'm not sure Farage would really want to entertain having to do some actual work

Previous attacks on Jo Cox consisted of hate mail and abusive letters

Yep, now it’s time for the conservatives to pull their finger out.

Conservatives got 2% of the vote in Makerfield

which is pretty poor, but, I'm not sure they put that much effort into it (unlike Reform) - it's a seat that Conservatives know they will never win, so they don't even try to

Let them all rage. Just keep quietly building.

aye, he's going to need every penny

Latest poll from over the weekend. The Tories won the seat in Aberdeen last Thursday and a couple of by-elections from Reform. Kemi now has the most favourable ratings among all the leaders. Let’s see if the ‘Burnham effect’ changes things.

I can see why, I actually think after initially getting the gig as leader, and generally being very naive and getting schooled by Starmer at her early PMQs, she's improved vastly, and normally comes across quite well in my opinion. It bodes well for a sensible Conservative Party getting back in power at some point in the not too distant future
