Funny one this!

Skysports.com can reveal that Radhi Jaidi has handed in a transfer request to Bolton Wanderers, despite the club's desire to keep him at the Reebok Stadium.

Bolton boss Sam Allardyce only recently stated that Jaidi was a pivotal member of his squad, and he will be unhappy that the Tunisia international is considering his options.

With the club embarking on their first European adventure following their qualification for the Uefa Cup, the experience of the powerful defender could be a key component of the Bolton defence.

Jaidi found himself battling for a place in the starting line-up at the end of last season, but the club's rocky spell as the campaign drew to a close has raised the player's stock.

There have already been links with the likes of Middlesbrough, although there has not been contact with the player, who is contracted to Bolton.

With speculation mounting in the player's native country, the player's agent Jesse Learoyd-Hill confirmed to skysports.com that the player had made a written request.

"In response to the speculation that has arisen in the Tunisian press that Radhi Jaidi was looking to leave Bolton, I can confirm that a transfer request has been submitted to the squad," said Learoyd-Hill.

"I would have preferred not to have to comment on this, and all I wish to do is clarify that the request has been made.

"I have been in discussions with Bolton but I have not had any contact from other clubs.

"That is all we wish to say at this time."

After his good run of form early in the season, he asked for a rise, got dropped for asking, and was then kept out by the form of TBH

had a sneaky feeling this may happen. can understand the guy wanting first team football, but he should equally hold his hand up and say how well both centre backs have performed in the latter half of the season.

we cannot afford to let him leave. we definitely need strength in depth. at times I expect sam to go with Jaidi and Bruno. At others Bruno and TBH. And quite happy if he rests Bruno for Jaidi and TBH. All three options are acceptable and possibly necessary should we start to progress in the 3 Cup competitions whilst trying to maintain our high league position.

you might be right.

but if i were a betting man i'd say he is fairly happy. he's earning money he could only dream of a few years ago. some of his countrymen still live in shacks. tunisia makes scotland look civilised. what sort of country rarely sells ale on tap in hotels? folk still go to work on donkeys and camels. its a f??cking shithole and as long as i've got a hole in my arse i'll never go back again.

i remember an interview in the buff not long ago, he was happy with his lot, drove an average car, sent money home blah blah blah, and was happy to be at a premiership club but shied away from the glamour that went with it.

now unless his ego has gone ricketseque then i'd say his agent can see dollar signs...........

i did read he was on relatively low wages

no surprise for somebody playing in tunisia before he joined

as a defender, he doesn't come close to ngotty n TBH

still rather keep him, but i suspect somebody is wafting big money under his nose

on the other hand, he may know we've got a couple of defenders coming in, pushing him down the list

whatever happens, life goes on

His transfer request has been rejected and we're reporting his agent to the Premier League. Can't see him being here next season.

BOLTON WANDERERS FOOTBALL CLUB can confirm that they have firmly rejected Radhi Jaidi's transfer request and furthermore the Club will report the Tunisian international's representative to the FA Premier League for allegedly touting the player to other Clubs.

Reports broke over the weekend that Jaidi had put in a transfer request to the Club, which was confirmed on Sunday night by Wanderers' chairman Phil Gartside.

"We have received a transfer request from Radhi Jaidi's representative, which has been firmly rejected," explained Gartside.

He added:

"The player is not for sale and is currently 12 months into a two-year contract with an option for a further year. It is an absolute nonsense that you sign something for three years and then do not honour it.

"Additionally, I am very annoyed and disappointed that the player's representative is allegedly touting him to other clubs. This is a serious breach of league rules and I'll be taking it up with the Premier League. In light of the recent issues in the game, we have to stamp down on this type of activity and eradicate it from our game."

Jaidi, who played an integral part in Tunisia's world cup qualifying victory over Botswana on Saturday, joined the Wanderers in the summer after winning six successive league titles with top African outfit Esperance Tunis. He made a fantastic start to his Bolton's career, but lost his place in the team midway through the campaign as manager Sam Allardyce settled for the central defensive pairing of Bruno N'Gotty and Tal Ben Haim.

There is no doubt that Allardyce would want the big defender, with a knack for scoring goals, to remain a part of his squad as he plans for the club's UEFA Cup adventure next season.

Meanwhile, Gartside is dismayed at the lack of loyalty shown in the modern game and he believes football needs to seriously look at the issues that are making a mockery of the sport.

He added:

""The problem within football is loyalty and I think that has been equally offended by both the employers and the employees. We have got to get that loyalty back in to the game."

"For example, Ashley Cole has got two years to run on his contract, which he signed in good faith, so why can't he work through that two years of his contract?

"We sign these contracts in good faith as clubs, and they are just ignored."

good point this

why the fook should clubs have to sign up to obscene contracts, and then half way through have to re-negotiate with the greedy bastards if things are going well

you don't see the buggers offering to take a reduction when it isn't working out

What he said in Nov 2004 ](*,)

Jaidi happy to commit to Bolton

Bolton defender Radhi Jaidi said he would be happy to stay at the Reebok Stadium for the rest of his career.

"I still haven't proved myself here at Bolton yet, and I love the club," the 29-year-old told the club's website.

"I want to give back to the club that have shown faith in me, and as I am in the latter stages of my career, I don't see why I can't end my career here.

"I am not thinking about other clubs. Above all I'm here to learn. I've learnt a lot since I've been here."

Yeah I reckon his agent has a hell of a lot to do with it, you don't just go from wanting to pledge the rest of your career to a club then six months later want to leave at the first sign of a hurdle [-X
