Ani
i know bobhat will agree and the rapper will disagree, but surely browns on borrowed time Brown and Blair before him should be on borrowed time.....if only there was a credibale opposition. Is David Cameron still alive ? Amazing how much the Tories rating has gone up since he stopped getting quoted in the papers.

jules_darby
It's a worrying indictment when the only real opposition's ratings go up because they've done nothing to make them go down as opposed to pro-actively generating policies that the public are interested in. I'm no politics expert, but why is there nobody at all that's seemingly credible to the man on the street? I certainly can't see any...

alibob
Is it Conservative who are pushing for an extra days bank holiday? (by pushing I mean, they say they'll get us one if they get into power, when they really will do f?ck all) Edited January 25, 2008 by alibob
jules_darby
If the signals pointing towards a recession turn out to be true what we really need his Dave and his chinless mates at the helm. Well, the jury is out on that one too - even the experts can't agree.
Whites man
Is it Conservative who are pushing for an extra days bank holiday? Millions of good honest working class folk had many extra days holidays under Thatcher. (copyright Ben Elton 1987).
jayjayoghani
Well, the jury is out on that one too - even the experts can't agree. We're doing our best trying to talk ourselves into recession in spite of the evidence. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7204457.stm The UK economy grew at its fastest rate in three years in 2007, but growth slowed towards in the last three months as the credit squeeze took hold. For the whole of 2007 the economy grew by 3.1%, said the latest data from the Office for National Statistics. Yet between October to December the economy grew just 0.6%, its lowest gain since the third quarter of 2006. Yes the last 3 months of 2007 growth slowed. The slowest 3 months growth for, well, all of a year.
YATESY
Can't be arsed finding the link but on the back of the Police demonstration, possible action by Teachers and the MPs vote regarding their pay increases (note there for you Civil Servants - us the tax payer are funding your pay rises!!) a poll was carried out to see who was most deserving of the planned pay increases. You will not be surprised to learn that MPs came out bottom by some distance!

Ani
nurses deserve a pay rise why ? is there a shortage ? do they struggle to recruit ? not saying they do nt just wondering why you think they do.
alibob
I just think for the work they do, and the hours they have to work (sometimes doubleshifts) the money they are on is poor. I believe some of them are on 11kish? They are a service we need. Saying that, I could just be believing what the papers say about the way they are treated. (And I know there are other sectors that deserve a pay rise too). Just from recent experience, the nurses seem to do more work than the doctors! Doctor Tongue
Only now you realise how much we miss Sir Tony - the best PM that we have ever had IMCO. Now traditionally - I'm a a labour voter - and I'm getting worried that I'm finding the attraction of having Dodgy Dave and his cronies in instead of Mother Brown more appealing by the day. Tongue Senior would fcukin murder me if he heard me talking liking this..........

They pay the same as unmarried blokes. Seems fair enough to me. Anyway you can still get a married man's tax allowance. Sluffy
A Week is a long time in politics - a Prime Minister once said (Harold Wilson). Gordon Brown / The Labour Party does not need to call a General Election until May, 2010. It may be a little bit too early to be arguing the strengths and weaknesses of the various leaders / parties as I'm sure a lot of things will have change before the country gets to vote again. Moderators Carlos Posted January 25, 2008 Moderators Share Posted January 25, 2008 In short, Blair is an evil c?nt from the same mold as Thatcher. Brown was complicite in all he did. Oddly, as a kind of socialist, I find Cameron quite agreable, even Oliver Letwin comes across well on his regular Question Time appearances. I'll be voting Conservative next time, and not as a protest vote.
