Absolute Legend in my eyes!

I am upset by the way the club has handled this!

Its obviously hit him hard as well!

Is there anyway the Wanderersways website can get a letter to him signed by us??

As we will never see him back at the reebok in Bolton white.

Well said a absolute legend in my eyes to and will be missed . I have sent the spanish fella a email asking for campo email address or one where he would read , if he emails back i will post it on here . All the best Campo .

gone up a lot in my estimation, after that letter,

top bloke took the time to let the fans know how he felt

likewise.

pedants, of which i am one, should know that 'after being knocked out of the uefa cup by atl?tico' has been changed to 'after the uefa cup match against atl?tico'.

my money's on sideshowcampo@hotmail.es

Fair play to Ivan, not many in this day and age would take time out to produce such a heartfelt response to the people who support them every week. I hope he will show his face at the Reebok again some day.

Campo sold so many ST for this club over the years and contributed to more top names looking up Bolton in the atlas, treated shabbily.

How many more have been shown the door like this and not put their thoughts in print. Bruno N'gotty and the great JJ must have felt hurt and disapointed at not having a chance to say goodbye.

Top man that Campo.

some fond memeories of Ivan. He was a classy player. I alway smiled when he used to play for a foul and go over like he'd been shot. I remember about 4 seasons ago during a home game, campo passed the ball about 50 yds to JJ. then jj returned the pass with pinpoint accuracy, as the ball was on its way to him, campo applauded the pass! I remember Rodney Marsh describing him as a pub player during a game against Sunderland away! He's been a great player for us but I can never forget when he tried to tackle a Tesco plastic bag as it blew across the pitch!

Just proves that Megson had nowt to do with the fight for survival, all down to the players.

I wish him all the best, a class act off the pitch as well

The article has probably lost a bit in translation and it's best not to read too much into it

But I couldn't help thinking the same

What's all the fuss about? Campo played, sometimes well, for Bolton and has just left like many before him. Legend is being thrown around, Camps isn't a Bolton Wanderers legend. Nothing against the bloke, and I enjoyed watching him play, but there were times when I thought what a clown. But, I did get the impression he enjoyed his stay here and he got a lot out of the adulation he recieved. Thanks Camps for being a big part of my Saturday afternoons entertainment but at the end of the day you were just a glorified Spanish version of Dave (legend) Sutton.

playing wise possibly not but as an iconic figure at BWFC i'd say he'll always be a legend

The word Legend gets used to easily.

Campo is not a legend.

He has been one of my favourite players at Bolton and he is a top bloke - as this letter proves - but he is not a legend.

He is one of the big name players brought to the club by BSA and has brought a smile to everyones face. Even this season he went from walking-off-in-a-strop to captain to being dropped totally in the space of 3 games!

It is a shocker from Megson that he sticks Jussi on the bench at Chelsea so he can say a goodbye but doesn't pick the injured Campo. 4 days later Campo is being told he is going but Jussi gets offered a 4 year deal. That is Megson at his man-management at its best again.

So Campo joins JJ and Youri in leaving the club without having a chance of a great send-off by the fans :(

Sorry, but against Chelsea we needed to avoid a very heavy defeat. Walker and Jussi were both nursing injuries so he stuck them both on the bench. Nothing to do with saying goodbyes. Still, don't let the facts get in the way of yet another attack on Megson.

I doff my cap to your knowledge of what goes on behind closed doors at the Reebok and of both man and football management.

1) Jussi wasn't put on the bench so he could say goodbye, otherwise he'd have brought him on. He was still injured, but put on the bench because Al Habsi and Walker had the shits.

2) In any event, surely it's good man management that he treated the players he wants to stay better than the ones that are leaving?

Campo did get the chance to say goodbye, the same way Stelios did, after the Chelsea game. It's sad that he didn't get chance to have a Hierro like send off at the last home game, but at that point we had far more important things to worry about. Besides, i love the bloke, but i doubt he'd give much of a toss about how Gartside was feeling if he'd turned down a contract from us and pissed off somewhere else. Footballers and football clubs only want loyalty when it suits them. Onwards and upwards, but thanks for the memories Ivan all the same. Him, Okocha, Stelios, Djorkaeff, Hierro and N'Gotty helped put this club on the map in terms of establishing us in the Prem and in Europe, so they'll all go down as legends to me.

Jussi has (argueably) something to offer Bolton for the next 4 years, Ivan, sadly, does not.

Thats not poor man-management, its common sense.

Megson isnt paid to be a fluffy bunny rabbit social worker, he's paid to make unpopular and difficult decisions.

It's not from behind closed doors, Megson said it after the game. But of course, he's the anti-christ, so was almost certainly lying....
