Mounts Kipper Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 In one of the better papers, pompey amongst a number of clubs interested in Eidur for a fee of 5 million, at the end of the report it also says Bolton Wanderers are keeping an eye on the situation.
bwfczoe Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 I would really love to see Eidur back here I have so much respect for the guy as he still respects Bolton for what they did for him Bring back Eidur!!
hughmungus Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 (edited) Agree it would be a great signing and could be the one that sells the extra few thousand season tickets we seem to need. Doubt if the club would have that much foresight though. Edited June 29, 2008 by hughmungus
Casino Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 i'm sure the club would HOPE it would add to the gate surely though we should be above signing players just to up the gate if gudjohnsen fits into what megson wants to do and we can afford him and he wants to come to us, then lets go get him (id guess at least one of those isn't the case) but for fooks sake, don't sign players to increase the gates
Sweep Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 Agree it would be a great signing and could be the one that sells the extra few thousand season tickets we seem to need. I'm not sure it would make any difference. I don't see that another 2K~3K would rush out and get a season ticket just because we signed Eidur Gudjohnsen
Casino Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 I'm not sure it would make any difference. I don't see that another 2K~3K would rush out and get a season ticket just because we signed Eidur Gudjohnsen and, being generous and calling a ST 400 quid, we're looking at 3000 x 400s 1.2 million not even, what, a third of his wages and thats forgetting the fee as i said, buying him as an investment is a waste of time
Whites man Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 Agree it would be a great signing and could be the one that sells the extra few thousand season tickets we seem to need. Doubt if the club would have that much foresight though. Replacing the Reebok Rebels with some leggy busty blondes will add a few onto the gate.
Guest The Special One Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 Replacing the Reebok Rebels with some leggy busty blondes will add a few onto the gate. post of the day
Whites man Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 Those yankee cheerleaders from a couple of years ago will be a start.
Traf Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 Those yankee cheerleaders from a couple of years ago will be a start. Those front 4 rows wouldn't be empty, anyway!
Arnold Jackson Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 Those yankee cheerleaders from a couple of years ago will be a start. They'd be a start and a finish for me!But I agree, bound to swell the crowd ... more people would come I'd say! Sorry I think I had an attack of the Kenneth Williams there... I do apologise.
Burndens Bogs Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 Getting back on thread for a minute, i don't think there's a Bolton fan who wouldn't have Eidur back like a shot, but let's not forget he only has a career strike rate of around 1 goal every 4 games. As someone said on another thread, Eidur would be best suited playing in the hole behind the main strikers, creating for others and scoring the odd goal himself. FWIW i don't think we'll ever see Eidur playing for us again, far bigger clubs than us would be interested if/when he becomes available.
Sweep Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 far bigger clubs than us would be interested if/when he becomes available. unfortunately, I agree
pad Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 Would be great, looking at number 15 on the attached list, I can't see us coming even close to competing with that!
HR Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 Would be great, looking at number 15 on the attached list, I can't see us coming even close to competing with that! Darren Bent ?94,689 p.w
Danny G Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 Would be great, looking at number 15 on the attached list, I can't see us coming even close to competing with that! How do we know all these are correct?? Spurs have a strict salary cap, I cant see them paying bent 96k a week
Sweep Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 How do we know all these are correct??Spurs have a strict salary cap, I cant see them paying bent 96k a week I've seen the list before, and always suspected it to be rubbish in all honesty, especially as most of the players listed would be paid in Euros, and so the weekly amount (in Sterling) would have changed quite dramatically over the past 6~12 months.
ZiggyStardust Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 I've seen the list before, and always suspected it to be rubbish in all honesty, especially as most of the players listed would be paid in Euros, and so the weekly amount (in Sterling) would have changed quite dramatically over the past 6~12 months. Wasn't it oft repeated during Euro 2008 that Ibramovich (sp?) was the best paid player in the world ?
Traf Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 I thought Beckham was the highest paid player in the world. LA Galaxy made it public that he was on $50m a season for the length of his 5yr deal. A shade oner ?500,000 a week: how does he manage, now that his wife has retired from "singing"?

A shade oner ?500,000 a week: how does he manage, now that his wife has retired from "singing"? The bulk of Becks 500k a week deal were made up from his image rights, his actual wages from playing for the club are probably right in being "only" 70k a week
tylswhite Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 I see Anelka isnt on that list, im sure he was on 60k ish when he was here. Surely he got more going to Chelsea?
Sweep Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 I see Anelka isnt on that list, im sure he was on 60k ish when he was here. Surely he got more going to Chelsea? The list also shows Robhino as being on ?87,975 per week..........whilst the Daily Mail today reports the following New Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari is considering a ?27m swoop for Real Madrid's Brazilian forward Robinho, who is unhappy at the lack of movement on an improvement on his ?30,000-a-week deal at the Bernabeu. (Daily Mail) So one of them is wildly out, or more liklely, both figures are just guess work
