Sweep Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 Agreed, also thought Shittu had another good game, no doubt you will get people saying hes shite whilst chanting Riga Riga Riga!!! from what I saw (in between the times when my feed froze completely) it looked as though Basham had a good game, Shittu performed very well, AOB put in some great challenges.............and Riga ran around a lot, when he went off, I thought he must be injured.........until I saw him sprint off down the tunnel, hopefully he's kept on running
Zico Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 It looked like what it was. A 90 minute battering. We went for the draw, & if we're lucky maybe nick one on the break. I'm not sure there was much else we could have done given the personnel out there today. Basham did seem to have a good game if there are any Sammy lee style positives to take from the game. it were in no way a battering always felt they'd get something mind, not because they were all over us, just because davies should've scored as well
M G WHITES Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 Na na na na na na na na whor Bolton Wanderers
Boby Brno Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 But the idiots sing his name You mean the idiots who actually made an effort to go down there to support the team and get behind a player wearing a white shirt? He may turn out to be the worst signing in the clubs history but dont have a go at the fans for giving him some encouragement!
Guest Holly_Goodhead Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 That's 6 of the last 7 games Megson and his merry men have lost.Taking it out on Riga who only appears as a sub occaionally is a bit pathetic.

No I mean the idiots who have been singing his name without even seeing him play i.e Portsmouth and Wigan

You don't come here often,eh? Many of us have been questioning the singing of Rigas name for months - not just after this game. Not PL standard, full stop. Edited January 10, 2009 by bolty58
Smiffs Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 I am a better footballer than Riga. In my rigger boots with a couple of stones in the bottom. The bloke is a steaming pile of dogshit and those who think otherwise are on crack. F?ck him off now. Big f?cking fact. He is horsewank.

I'm looking forward to Smiffs hosting Match of the Day after the revolution. Expert Analysis!
glasgowwhite Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 Jussi made a couple of decent saves Shittu & AOB did okay Basham ok on debut Muamba - great at breaking up play but his passing ability?? thought the Obadeyi fella looked more of a threat than Riga for last 13? gutted at the end as we fought hard, Riga aside, thought they deserved a point. Big worry obviously is that the best we could ever get was that, we need a couple of signings hopefully get the Scum game out the way and then sort the rest of the season, should have enough to stay up - but who knows!!!
MickyD Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 I predict a bench low on experience. CORRECT I predict he [Nicky Hunt] won't even play. CORRECT I don't know. I just don't think Megson rates Hunt at all. CORRECTI wouldn't be too surprised to see one of the reserves at full back. Or indeed JLS at RB and Ricky at LB. CORRECT Subs: Bogdan, Basham, Sissons, Fojut, Hunt, Obadeyi, Smolarek Oh, you're way off the mark here Traf. 7 subs? A luxury for Bolton! But 4 out of 5 predictions . . . not too bad!
Traf Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 CORRECT CORRECT Oh, you're way off the mark here Traf. 7 subs? A luxury for Bolton! But 4 out of 5 predictions . . . not too bad! In fairness, I'd already been told the exact team line-up and the 4 subs, but I thought the lad had just missed 3 subs off the message by mistake!
YATESY Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 It looked like what it was. A 90 minute battering. We went for the draw, & if we're lucky maybe nick one on the break. I'm not sure there was much else we could have done given the personnel out there today. Basham did seem to have a good game if there are any Sammy lee style positives to take from the game. The whole defence performed well, AOB had a performance like of last season and his block on Adebayor was superb. Shittu had his best game by a country mile - provided great entertainment with the Arsenal fans I was sat with (they aren't used to a good old fashioned blocker at the back!!) The two full backs (especially Basham on debut) were excellent but just a shame that they both went to sleep on the goal. Basham allowed a channel ball to be slipped in that gave Van Persie a vital yard start on him and JLS (for not the first time) was late to cover the back post arrival of the goal scorer. Muamba really does frustrate. Interceptions he is superb, taking the ball out of danger in his own half he is superb, ask him to play a pass to a Bolton player once he is out of trouble - forget it.
Andybwfc Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 In reality what did we expect to pick up from Arsenal? It was a solid defensive display considering the situation we were in and in the end we were unlucky not to get a point. It will be very much the same next week. Out of the last 6 league fixtures we have played 4 out of the top 5 in the Premier League and lost against them all (somewhat expected). Expect another loss in that mix next week against a top 5 side. We won Pompey and the other one we should of won was against Wigan. Out of the fixtures against the top 5 sides in Chelsea, Villa, Liverpool and Arse we have had 2 reasonable games and unfortunate not to get anything from the Chelsea and Arse games. After the Utd game 9 of the games on the run (Blackburn A, Spurs H, Everton A, West Ham H, Newcastle H, Stoke A, Fulham H, West Brom A and Boro H ) we are capable of getting something and picking up more points. It's these games that Megson's future will be decided. Anything from next week is a massive bonus!
Smiffs Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 Considering we had the reserves out, I thought we did well. Some good performances from Shittu and McCann, said my bit about Riga, but on the whole we were worth staying till the end to clap and shout 'hurraaaaah' at them.
