Really is poor this, just wondering if it's an attempt to undermine away support even before the game starts rather than being PC, along with stopping beer (was there any on Sat? Weren't any at Villa or Liverpool), nailing you to your seats or putting away fans in some far corner of the ground. Disgrace either way, if you can't fly a flag at a footy match where can you? I'm just happy we live in such an enlightened part of the country, where the club actually offers to put the flag up in a prominent location (although there weren't any up last home game, anyone know why?). I've had friends (away fans) who have said the North Stand looks really good with all the flags, however were disappointed that they were all England flags (as if it detracts away from the BWFC written across it in size 200 font), why is it that some teams have a real dislike for the patriotic (Scum and the Scouse in particular)?

Fans of big premiership clubs dont generally care about the international scene. They get plenty chance themselves to go into Europe with their clubs, internationals take their best players and risk injury etc. Plus most of them are f?cking Irish anyway.

You will very rarely find a decent turn out from the top clubs at England away. Only Chelsea buck that trend but that was way before they were any good and were no bigger than say Sheff Wed.

Arse, Utd, Liverpool....I dont think I've ever seen them away with England. Utd taking 200 to Anfield for the FInland game doesnt count.

On the subject of flags, qudos to whoever was hanging a big BWFC Northern Soul from the top of a block of yuppy flats overlooking the Emirates.

Official attendance was 60 thou but there must have been 3 thou empty seats in corporate middle tier

Shit atmosphere with plastic fans. Reebok is 10 times better

What a genius Mr Edelman must be.

One dispute amongst a tiny proportion of the Arsenal support and ban all National Flags, including our own?

Shameful.

Isn't it "illegal" to fly a St Georges flag anyway, unless it's on a vertical pole.............

Edit: Found the story St. George and again

This amused me for some reason:

"The council has never told me what it is I am advertising and clearly I would like to know what that is."

although if they banned one nations flag then they'd have to ban them all otherwise complaints and no doubt legal action by no win no fee type leeches would ensue

the sensible thing would be to ask the bod witht he turkish cypriot flag to take it down as it was causing offense and for siad bloke with flag to agree and take it down.

the cross of St george and The union Flag should be allowed wherever within reason.

obviously hanging a 6ft flag on a thin pole isn't sensible but the woman in the article shouldn't be stopped from flying the flag.

There's a bloke on Bury/bolton road just after the 40mph section on the Bury end who often has a smiley face flag or the skull and crossbones flying from a proper flag pole

I'd like to think that's because it's a gay bar called the Pirate Of Men's Pants

but I suspect it's not

A flag showing "Smileys" face? - wouldn't that make you crash your car?

Arsenal may as well be a foreign club imo, set of ragging pussys

indeed, and the irnony being they are the only club in the top 5 that is still under British ownership (for now)

OFFICIAL STATMENT FROM ARSENAL FOOTBALL CLUB

Thank you for your comments regarding the flying of the Northern Cyprus flag.

This has been further discussed at length within the Club and in order to treat all of our fans in the same way we have issued the following statement.

It is hoped in this way everyone can continue to support the Club without any unrest.

?Some of our fans have been upset with the flying of certain flags denoting particular regions of the world.

Arsenal as a club prides itself on being inclusive with respect to all nationalities, cultural and ethnic groups.

We have therefore decided that in order that all of our fans can enjoy their expreiences at Emirates Stadium we are asking all fans to only fly flags in support of Arsenal Football Club with no national emblems.

We will be implementing this policy with immediate effect.?

if our flag is so important and dear to people why do you find it acceptable to write all over it ?

in america you can not deface the flag or you get prosecuted.

do not get me wrong i think you should be able to fly the flag and i personally do not have a problem with writing on the flag but i think we cherish our national identity when it suits and disregard it at other times.

I'm sure there is probably some ancient law going back a couple of hundred years or so that means it is illegal to "deface" either the Union Flag or the flag of St. George

It does always amuse me when I see a flag of St. George with "England" written on it, what's that all about?
