Most years I get fook all. T'lad gets me a carton of cider (bless him) and dowter sometimes remembers to give me socks or hankies etc. but that's it. Like most husbands/fathers, only here to provide.

This year, however, is a whole lot different, oh yes. Searched for one of these for 39 years since seeing a Bowton lad called George Slupski with one in Tonge Fold somewhere around June 1970. Found one in Sydney; completely restored it and it was finished at lunchtime today. Over the pits tomorrow and, hopefully, licensed in time for running in operations over my 9 day Christmas break. Not that anyone other than Ratwhite, Hillofdaub and a couple of others would care but it is a 1965 TV200, completely Italian.

Best Christmas in years :D (p.s. try not to notice the weather. I am sensitive to your plight  )

Many thanks for the kind comments.

Now then, Smiffers. That empty block next door matches one just over the road. Purchased by the same Honkers family when Perth land prices were skyrocketing and now worth less than they paid since the American inspired plummet.

I have a feeling they will either sell when the predicted boom comes back here in Q4 2010 or they will build summat and either move in or flog on. Plus side with the empty one next door is being able to walk around bollock naked shrieking woohoo and making it do the nipple tassel thing every time I bump into our Doris. Down side is dust as our soil is sand with black bits of (fairly valuable) Ilmenite which get blown around. (We are the one and only) Wandering slightly but always amazed that glossy black Ilmenite is the base material for the whitest substance known to man. Anyway, I digress.

Little Whitt - hair dryer! You should have been on The Comedians. Never heard that one before

Horwich - I know you blokes are having it rough, weather wise. You'll think I am taking the p?ss and I'm not. Been stinking hot here and it is equally as uncomfortable (lovely today/toneet) but nothing like the diffculties you have in getting around in that sh?t. Hope it clears up soon for you all and you get a mild spell.

Bolty - feeling serenely benevolent after realising a 39 year dream.

Nice looking scoot Mr B. I'm not jealous?

Think the (TV200) was only an export model and not sold in Italy (but I could be wrong).

Enjoy it sounds like you've waited long enough to get one.

ND (ex Bolton Roadrunner).

Cheers ND. I still know some Roadrunners but, in my day, we'd be talking Mouse Fielding; Tubs Brown and a few I'd better not name ;)

You are correct. The TV200 (marketed as GT200 in the UK as a marketing ploy thinking that 'Turismo Veloce' might be harder to understand than 'Gran Turismo') was the product of demands from England for larger capacity; faster and more powerful machines. The eye ties wanted economy over power/speed and stuck with smaller capacity engines. They actually used series 2 engine casings in the TV200 but managed to produce the fastest production Lambretta ever (the later SX200 used a series 3 block and was the most powerful production Lamby - not the fastest due to gearing).

Sorry you asked yet? :D

Aye, a long wait but all the more satisfying.

Thanks Danny. Only project managed this one for a change. Sourced all parts; got all the bodywork attended to - frame checked on jig - painting sorted etc. Had given the engine to a local Lambretta expert (from Leeds Central Elite SC) with the components I wanted putting in (first oversize Asso; Varitronic 12v kit; dodicimila GP crank etc.) and then delivered the rest of the bike for him to assemble for me (his job allows him a lot more time than me).

Even supplied the entire nut & bolt requirement in Stainless Steel 316. Not really necessary here but old English habits die hard.

Northern Dancer - almost forgot mate - this is one of around 300 which were exported to Sydney for some reason.

I've never understood the fascination with scooters (or motor bikes for that matter) but if it floats your boat fair play.

The jungle drums in the worldwide scooter fraternity beat loud mate. I know a few ex and current Roadrunners who let me know what's occurring; of that you can be sure.

When TV200's or SX200's are involved, I take note.

H - thank you. Have a great one yerself.

Bogsy - I don't rev em til after 10am mate. Besides that - different lifestyle here. Up early.
