I have a strong dislike for superhero films, even stronger for adults who watch them , even stronger for the ones who discuss them like they’re real life

You didn't get that Batman costume for your 10th birthday did you?

Was watching a doc over the weekend about Stanislav Petrov, Russian fellow who saved the world from nuclear war

just found out they’ve made a feature film about it with Matt Damon , Kevin Costner Bobby De Niro. Never heard of it

Just been googling this. All a bit confusing. Are you saying there are two separate films, as all I can find is one thing made by Peter Anthony with the stars in it as well.

Don’t know why it’s linked the film twice

I saw a documentary on discovery , haven’t seen the film.

Just watching Apocolypse Now (Final cut) on TV, i’d forgotten how good a film it was.

The original film is 42 years old now (1979)and it still stands up there with the best imo.

What do you reckon to the full remix, with the meal on the Delta with the French family etc?

Is it too much or does it put you in the scene vividly? In true history uni student style I'm sitting on the fence, I actually love both  let's get to the point though, that actual animal slaughter scene is horrible.

It’s been a long day, so I’ve been dipping in and out of the movie and  not really given it the full attention it deserves, so i’m perhaps not best placed to comment on some of the scenes , but yeh i saw the French plantation scene and i don’t think was a necessary addition, the animal slaughter scene  is  a tough watch though.

A fucking brutal and powerful movie back in the day and Martin Sheen was excellent, as were the rest of the cast , and fuck me what a cast -

Marlon Brando, Robert Duvall, Dennis Hopper Martin Sheen, Harrison Ford etc.

9.5/10

I woke up mid way through and watched to the end.

Is that a young Laurence Fishburne on the boat?

Yes.

The opening scene with The Doors “The End” playing and the napalm being dropped is so good and so powerful.

The Rescue - on Disney Plus. About the Thai cave rescue. Brilliant film/documentary. Tell me you aren’t proud to be from this great nation at the end of it.
