paddock boy Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 I woke up yesterday to the words "dad do u know were u scarf is ur gonna need it" not the usual words that u fear hearing but as i have owned 1 scarf since our very first premier season and refused to replace it until this day, When i arrived at the reebok to pay my respects to the great man i was heartened to see a wolves fan walking away having paid his respect and to see shirts and scarves from our rivals this shows what a great man sir Nat was not only has BWFC lost a great man but so has the world of football. R.I.P. SIR NAT YOU TAUGHT US ALL THE MEANING OR PRIDE IN OUR CLUB
L/H White Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Just booked a Wednesday off to go pay my respects.
jules_darby Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 YOU TAUGHT US ALL THE MEANING OR PRIDE IN OUR CLUB Eloquently sums up the overriding feeling of the past couple of days for me; the man makes you feel PROUD Nat had a type of class that cannot be bought; I hope that part of Nat's legacy is that it can be taught RIP
mannyroad vet Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 (edited) as said previously the word "legend" is too easily used these days but for this gent i can't think of a more apt description. bwfc have lost their finest player and ambassador and the town have lost their true son... RIP Nat.....sadly missed but will never be forgotten Edited January 17, 2011 by mannyroad vet
chief wiggum Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 I can't add much to the words that have already been said. Rest In Peace Nat.
enzo gambaro Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 It'd be nice if the Chelsea game was sold out by the end of the day. The town should come out and raise the roof next Monday - I can't think of a more fitting tribute to a true great.
Guest Guest Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 The coverage that hes got sums up how much of great man he was. Never be forgotton. As they said on match of the day 2 Nat Lofthouse, Mr Bolton. RIP
desperado Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 As every other post says LEGEND - RIP Was lucky enough to meet him on a number of occassions due to his friendship with my "pops" who lived next door to him on Thicketford road and took Nat to his first game at Burnden, he told me he would be forever indebted to my Granddad. I hope the 2 are sharing a laugh and a story together. As mentioned what a tribute it would be to fill out the Reebok on the 24th and pay our vocal respects.
james phillips Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Truely a gent. Met the big fella a few times in the cheatam PH edgeworth.Lovely man. Our Thoughts are with his family.
Flannel Truscott Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 There's nothing I can add to these fantastic tributes, it brings a tear to the eye to see how loved he was. Feeling gutted, RIP my Hero, RIP.
Guest Robo10 Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 RIP Nat, a legend and gent of the game Robo10 and all Stokies.
Guest Crawley White Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Can't add anything other than I've had Spurs, Liverpool, Utd, Arsenal and West Ham fans in our offices all saying how sad it is and wishing their best to BWFC. RIP Nat
MACCA Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 My grandad brought me up on many great stories about SIr Nat I almost felt like I'd seen him play myself. The fact is that I like many never saw the great man play but still regard him as the greatest football player ever to wear the shirt! RIP Nat the greatest ever wanderer!
Guest David Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Definetly hoping for a sellout at the Chelsea game, great atmosphere in remeberence of a great player.
marple whites Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Its a shame the current day footballer is not more like you !! Rest in peace, your memory will last forever.
Guest Tony Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 RIP Nat and sympathy to his family. The film of him being carried off unconcious in Vienna, and then he came back on later. Also nice to hear Jimmy Armfield talking about him. Jimmy was also a great footballer and a gentleman.
gregbwfc Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 RIP Nat. My Dad thanks you for all the goals and memories.
Guest supersyd Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 RIP Mr Bolton....I went out on Saturday night with my wife and we went to the Pineapple in Astley Bridge, we have not been there for a few years. We sat at the bar in the lounge side. Behind the bar on the wall there was a very large black and white photo. My wife who doesn't give two hoots or knows nothing about football asked is that Nat Lofthouse, yes I replied, chuffed for once she had taken an interest in football. This was one of the few times we had spoke about football and certainly the first time my wife had ever mentioned Nats name. Is he still with us and does he still live in Bolton, she asked, oh yes he certainly is and does I said. That was 10.30pm Saturday night. I walked into the Flag on Sunday and heard the news. 100 % true story. He is truely in EVERYONES hearts.
juewanderer Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 I went to the Reebok yesterday to pay my respects to the great man, lots of people telling me about their experiences of watching Nat play.. Very moving ! I recommend everyone to go and have a look at the wonderful display of scarves, shirts and flags on display..He truely is and always will be a Bolton Wanderers Legend.!
