Superb find!! Obviously I’d love my Dad to be still alive (sadly at 105 it would be wishful thinking) but it’s stuff like this that rings so many bells about stuff he told me By 1945 he’d be

You're right about the lad running on the pitch Jazza, it was Grimsby. Sure a couple of their fans jumped on and tried to save his shot aswell.

Same about what would happen nowadays... Went on the pitch after all 3 goals in that Lincoln cup game above...just got told don't do it again each time of the stewards...

I was at that - wasn't it Supa John's first game for us??

yes it was....

can you beleve he was 28!

i was there at them both

Same here, with my old man

I miss Dave higson, I think football does

A ginger lad did it before "that" Hull game too with a ball left on the pitch post warm up but before the players came out

I think he nearly missed from about 5 yards

Happy days

still love this

Confession time. I was one of the orange warriors behind goal on the track Great Lever side :shiftyninja:

Who in the name of Christ was the goalkeeper????

Was it Mike Salmon?

Went to that match but could not remember what a shit performance he put in.

IIRC Brian Borrows played for them against us that day - carried on in their cup run then fucked himself just before the final?

Some great posts & great memories amongst these.

The Shrewsbury away match first game of the season brings back how different things were. I'd got back in the early hours from a fortnight in Benidorm, I was still shitfaced. I'd had about 2 hours kip when one of the lads rung & said they were off to Shrewsbury, I needed to be ready top speed if I wanted to go which I did. Great day out, great following, no pratting around with getting tickets in advance!

Thanks for the posts.

sorry everyone.

i went fuckin sick after that

thanks for reminding me just before we play them next season :shiftyninja:

Can't see Southampton away in the Cup anywhere, but I've got the goal highlights on video so will have to try to get 'em loaded up. Barry Horne can fuck off though

Did you ever get it uploaded satan?

that was a great game with a shite ending

Bloody Felgate

No, I don't have a video tape to electronic converter - used to get my brother to do it, but his is knackered now.

If all else fails I guess I could video my telly playing it

I'd forgotten how bad our defence was back then. Who was that at left back? Twice the ball comes to him under no real pressure and twice he hoofs it straight up in the air to no-one in particular. Reminds me of Ray Deakin in his prime who regularly used to shin the ball into the Manny Road Paddock.

It's Jimmy Phillips, isn't it?

Not sure what Mick Salmon was thinking about on the second and third goals either!

A much younger Jeff Stelling, eh? unbelievable.

Cocking up a 3-1 lead against the scum? Disgraceful.
