freds dad Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 Put "virgin farefinder" into Google. A great site that gives the lowest fares Fares from ?70 and cheaper if you can go from Manc eg: http://www.farefinder.virgintrains.co.uk/BestFares.aspx?orig=PRE&dest=EUS&out=20110417&rtn=20110417

MickyD Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 Just page a couple of quid short of ?120 for a family of 4 from bolton to euston. Need a family railcard but that lasts a year and pays for itself on the first trip. You need to take an under 15 too.
GudniForever Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 Just a little heads up regarding Virgin Train tickets. On the weekend of 16th and 17th for the Semi finals they have now stopped all value advance (ie cheap tickets) due to demand. The cheapest tickets are now the Saver tickets at around 65 nicker. No alcohol will be permitted on board any Virgin trains on the days in question. The ruling on alcohol has made me make different arrangements, even though I get free train travel!.

I'm still finding tickets for ?119 for two adults and two kids with a family railcard. You are entitled to four adults and four kids on the card. Borrow one of mine if you want.
Supersyd Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 (edited) **6 CHEAP TRAIN TICKETS AVAILABLE FOR ?11.50 EACH** Due to a change in our travel plans I have 6 single Adult train tickets available for just ?11.50 each plus what I paid for postage (just a couple of ?), ALL reserved seats together, 4 of them being a table seat, basically Im selling the 6 tickets at cost price (Virgin Trains). Dept Manc Pic 15:35 Sat 16th April, arriving Euston just over 2 hours later 17:42, no changes and plenty time for an evening in London. The times of the train mean you will avoid ALL Utd and City fans because they will already be there. I already have all the printed tickets with the seat reservation tickets in my possession as I bought them sometime ago. There are no train tickets left this cheap for these times on any train website. Obviously you will have to arrange the return single tickets yourself, but overall it will work out very cheap. PM me if you are interested. I will get back to you as soon as. Cheers. Edited March 20, 2011 by Supersyd
The True Marple White Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 How were you planning on getting back???
Supersyd Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 How were you planning on getting back??? Basically we had already booked a 16 seater mini bus at ?35 each return, I booked the train tickets when rumours went round it could be an early lunch time KO on Sunday, in case any of the lads wanted to go the night before as early KO no good if you want a rinse. So places on the bus back already guaranteed if decided on going day before (still would have been a cheap return at ?46.50 and we had a choice). Any how its a late KO in the end and everyone now is happy to go on the bus on the day, so me left with these 6 tickets!
jazza Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 I'm flying to Gatwick from Newcastle on Sunday morning and back Monday morning for ?80 and sharing a room with 3 others at Wembley Hilton for ?40 a head on the Sunday night.

Last time at Wembley . . . or was it Cardiff? . . . I think there were maybe two or three coppers on the train. We just had someone posted either end of the carriage as a 'spotter'. Worked a treat!
GudniForever Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 Thanks for the offer of tickets guys but I've already sorted my arrangements by other means. I work for Virgin Trains and had a meeting with the man who is co-ordinating the weekends pricing/logistical arrangements last thursday. He told me basically what I had written previously that advamce purchases were now unavailable for the weekend in question and that Saver tickets were the cheapest option. In typical Railway industry style this doesn't appear to have been made uniform across the country from whichever ticket office/website you use. Apologies for the misinformation as it appears what I was told, in an official capacity is nothing short of bollocks. That said, I can confirm with a grudge that British Transport Police have banned Alcohol on all trains to and from Manchester and Wigan for the 16th and 17th.
HomerJay Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 is the club train reebok to wembley direct? is that even possible?

MickyD Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 I think they may have looked into the bag. They'd struggle to find ale in the false bottom though!
