  • dunno, but i'll tell you what   if allardyce plays him full back, megson and coyle want shooting   because if he can do it to even 75% of his best, hes the best left back in the club

2 reasons right there not to bother renewing

I'll be honest, I genuinely don't recall him playing any good football on the left under Megson - bar his first 2 months in charge I only ever recall Taylor playing there

for me Gardner's best Bolton days were at left back

I'd like to think that Coyle gave him a chance in the run in and to be quite frank, he showed he wasn't up to it - not even sure why we made him an offer

yes but centre midfield has never been his thing has it?

makes you wonder why he played there then

makes you wonder why he played there then

Maybe because we were resorting to playing our leading scorer there by the end of the season?

phil brown played him there to great effect

at pne though

in the championship

been a few years since he did that in the PL

that said, presumably Alonso will go down so he may have served a purpose as backup

which is probably why he got an offer

as I can't imagine it was based on what he showed towards the end of the season

And the word on the street now is that he's turned West Ham down

Which street?

According to Alan Nixon's story in the papers tomorrow:

Bolton's Gardner turns down Allardyce reunion

Ricardo Gardner has rejected a chance to rejoin Sam Allardyce at West Ham ? and is ready to sign a new deal with Bolton.

The versatile Jamaican was out of contract at The Reebok and boss Owen Coyle offered him new terms that were a big drop from his last contract.

Gardner met Allardyce for talks, but headed back to Bolton yesterday and is now keen to stay on and take his chances in trying to break back into Coyle?s team.

A very popular figure with Wanderers fans, Gardner has been fighting injuries for the past year and was loaned out to Preston in March.

But the possibility of staying in the Premier League has swayed him towards a new, less lucrative deal with Bolton rather than dropping to the Championship with the Hammers.

I hope this is true. Youri at Rovers and Jay Jay at Hull tainted their careers here for me ever-so-slightly. I'd love Ricardo to see out his career here, just want to see him given a chance at full back again.

Really hope this is true!

If Nixon wrote it, it must be true!

What a guy

Turns out they aint all cunts

Shove thwt up your fat fuckibng arse allardyce, not everyone is a cunt

Whenever his testimonial is i am there

Let's be fair, it's not beyond the realms of possibility, he does have glass knees after all

Agreed, but strange reports that we would sign him. Unless sentiment is playing a part if he signs :good:

We have to hope and believe that just like the Djorkaeffs, NGottys, Frandsens and Pedersens of our past, we are letting him go as his career is all but finished. The aforementioned didn't break any pots after leaving Bolton as we'd had the best out of them.

Had some great moments watching Ricky running down the wing, wind blowing through his dreads, 40, 50, 60 yards dribbling past defenders and at no point EVER having control of the football!!

My granddad says there's 3 things working independently of each other when Ricardo is dribbling the ball, Ricardo's legs and Ricardo himself. If all 3 manage to go in the same direction he was unstoppable.

Is the 3rd the ball perchance?

The news that Gardener is staying has made my day.

I can now happily hope West Ham fail miserably next season. :yahoo:
