Bogdan Or Jussi ?

Featured Replies

well it looks like al habsi has gone to wiggin ,

so to start the new season who would you have as your first choice keeper ?

am sure a lot of people agree that jussi,s best days are behind him and Bogdan has looked very capable when he played or came on last season - i think the way he actually looks has people thinking he,s a pushover - no confidence , but he has shown he has when he played.

the lad has been at the club for about 4 or 5 years now so he must show that he has something .

my vote goes to bogdan (although i spoke to anewman and he was very much arguing jussi,s corner) .

I don't get all this Al Habsi is the best keeper nonsense. There are a number of Premier teams on the look out for a keeper and only Wigan have shown an interest in him. He is not as good as everyone

jussi

Jussi! Without any shadow of a doubt.

Even with Al-Habsi still here I would still pick Jussi every time. He is a top top keeper that had a slight dip in form for half a season. That does not mean "his best days are behind him", look at Van Der Saar FFS still immense at 40.

I don't get the whole love in with Al-Habsi, yes I think he is a good keeper but he is similar to Jussi but with bigger faults. He is very good at shot stopping, but shite at commanding his box and coming for crosses.

Jussi will be first choice for a good few seasons yet, Bogdan can sit on the bench as good cover and play some cup games, he's got plenty of time yet.

Jussi's got a 2 year extension so that will take him to 2014 and 38 years of age I think - Despite not sharing anewmans general "the end of the world is nigh" attitude to most things I'm not sure it's a good thing at all, it's very fashionable for keepers to play on well in to their late 30's these days but for me the ones who have done that successfully are keepers that do the basics very well which is what consistent golakeeping is all about for me - Jussi has never really been in that bracket competent at the basics with the ability to make wonder saves that abiltiy wasn't there last year and at 36 isn't coming back - so I think we start with Jussi but we should not be afraid to drop him for Bogdan if needs be

Jussi is no longer agile enough IMO. That's nothing to do with a dip in form.

He's not going to get any of his agility back. Anything hit hard, low down, or high up ito the corners beats him too esily nowadays.

He just tends to fall to his knees a lot whenever something is hit towards the top corner.

Having said that, I'm not sure Bogdan looks ready yet - he certainly didn't against t'Rovers.

No question. Jussi.

Jusdan.

Mix 'n match.

Jussi to start with

But there should be competition from Bogdan

What Jules said.

Jussi, even if Al Habsi was staying.

No contest. Jussi is still our best keeper.

Both shit

Very simple. Jussi starts and if he makes a clear mistake put Bogdan in for the next game and vice versa. Its not rocket science.

Big mistake if we let Al Habsi go

its not rocket science

nor is it jack and fcuking jill

one mistake and you're out would result in us changing all 11 every week

btw, jussi

and big tick to coyle

i honestly thought he'd 'lost' jussi

if he's on his knees for 8 of the first 10 goals he conceeds, he gets dropped

give them both 45 minutes each for the first 10 games, who ever lets in the least goals gets to be first choice for the rest of the season

Alternate games, like Clemence & Shilton for England.

Play "fly netters"

Jussi without question. With the weekly 'jussi out' topic on the forum. Jussi is widely regarded as one of the top 5 keepers in the league and rightly so.

I hear Rob Lainton is rated quite highly

Does Dave Felgate still work in a woodyard in Bolton?

I wish people would shut up about him being on his knees.

The only reason he looks like he's on his knees when we concede is because he's on his knees for EVERY shot taken at him, for a reason. It's easier to block low shots (which most of them are) if you have a lower centre of gravity. That's not exactly brain surgery to figure that out!

Let's let him stand (rather than kneel) when he concedes goals, but I fear that we'd see it twice as often as him kneeling.

He is at the massivies as an academy coach I think
