no balls
So all in all it aint been a bad 24 years and it could have been so, so different - we've been lucky really, very lucky. Slide again and we may not be so fortunate.. What Satan said. My brother's a PNE fan. I always thanked the bloke upstairs I listened to my dad. Let's hope things never get as grim for me football wise as it has for my brother.
SpiritofBurnden
coyle inherited a good set of players Which ones were they then apart from Cahill?
Moderators Zico Posted November 27, 2011 Moderators Share Posted November 27, 2011 The position now is quite similar to when Megson and Coyle both came. Languishing near the foot of the table with a third of the season gone. Realistically we only need to improve our league position to achieve what we all want (at this moment in time), Premier League football next season. Can Coyle provide that? Not sure Are we due a fucking massive slice of luck (injuries and sendings off etc.) Yes Are other teams around us likely to hit a bad patch like we have, Without doubt. Especially in second half of season Coyle must already have a list of players that he will be looking to bring (with or without Cahill money) Three home games before year end could be critical. they are around us because they are already having or have had a spell just like us! the other concern is Blackburn, Wolves, Sunderland, Fulham probably have a good patch in them to come from what I've seen of us, we're going nowhere fast at the moment, but can't see how Coyle will turn it around

Burndens Bogs
Indeed, I wasnt suggesting about being in the fizzy pop league at all but the point of football is becoming pointless Fair point. Football teams have peaks and troughs, i feel we're about to experience a major long term trough. Christ i hope i'm wrong though.
snowball
I really don't see how anyone can want us to go down. It will be very hard for Bolton to get back. I don't see another Sam Allardyce out there. We are much more likely to do a Charlton. You might get to visit a few new shitholes but 12,000 or less at the Reebok, no thanks. The Premier League is the place to be, better to 'make the numbers up' here than being a total irrelevance apart from the odd gratefully received cup draw. For a club the size of Bolton to have stayed 11 seasons in the Premier League is a fantastic achievement no matter what other 'fans' may think. If we can make it twelve, well I will be more than happy with that at the moment and then hope springs eternal for the next season. After Saturday though I can understand why some of us might be trying to convince ourselves the Championship isn't that bad. That is where we are headed and I am not sure Coyle can change it. tarian1979
Doesn't anyone else find it stagnant that we are here merely to make numbers up in a league we will never win, yet we cannot afford to go down, pretty bleak Yeah, but why u are the top league there is the outside chance of winning a cup aka portsmouth boro birmingham etc.

tarian1979
what league were we in in 95 Didnt win it though. Very occasionally a 2nd div team gets to a final but doesnt win it. When was last time one won one? Cant remember myself, a league cup in the 80s maybe

SatanGreavsie
So all in all it aint been a bad 24 years and it could have been so, so different - we've been lucky really, very lucky. Slide again and we may not be so fortunate.. So here's a good example of the stagnation idea - just noticed that Coventry are now 2nd bottom of the Championship, 7 points from safety. They went down went we came up;indeed wiki says: "Coventry currently hold the longest tenure in the Championship league of 11 consecutive seasons". But they then indiacte they've done fuck all to remember in those 11 seasons: that time has amounted to a new ground, a last game of the season escape from relegation and a Cup tie away at the Filth. Compare that to our last 11 seasons Now that's stagnation

enzo gambaro
...Sturridge his second January.I don't think Bolton could dream of better January signings than them. A bit worrying we nearly finished up with Vela instead, though. I don't think we'd be having to speculate about life in the Championship if that deal had gone through. I think they were on a 7 game losing streak in league one until last night Im proud and feel lucky to be a Bolton fan. Weve done some absolutley amazing things that most clubs can only dream of. Weve been to the brink and back, had great escapes, had european adventures, been in cup finals, had a few promotions and had some absolutley fantastic players. We are having a lean time of it at the moment but theres a long way to go this season and theres one thing about Bolton is when the going gets tough we do often seem to pull it out of the bag. Lets just keep the faith and be grateful for what weve got Edited November 30, 2011 by tylswhite
