Bolton Wanderers and England under 21's midfielder Fabrice Muamba collapsed during the FA Cup quarter-final at White Hart Lane as Tottenham Hotspur hosted Bolton Wanderers.

Fabrice 23, received medical treatment while on the field of play shortly after collapsing in the 41st minute of the game. Fabrice was then rushed to hospital as the game was abandoned by match official Howard Webb after consultation with both managers Owen Coyle and Harry Redknapp.

Our thoughts go out to the family and friends of Fabrice.

Update

Fabrice is stable although in a critical condition in intensive care in the Heart Attack Cente at the London Chest hospital.

Don't even know why, could of easily put a Spurs player on the back but I got an England shirt with Muamba on the back today.   Hello to you lot by the way, as you probably guessed I'm a Spurs fan!

  • Retiring the shirt is the most ridiculous thing I think I have ever heard.

can't say anything that hasn't been said before, just get better Fab and enjoy your life

What a surreal day. Stood in the stands, when people started realising that it was CPR being carried out you could hear a pin drop in the stadium as we all looked on in disbelief, absolutely sick to the stomach, some people in tears. There was barely a word spoken on the way home and just not knowing was the worst part. Credit to the medical staff of both teams I think we all feared the worst and they have, fingers crossed, looked to have turned it around against all odds. Also credit to the 99.99% of Spurs fans there who where fantastic, the less said about the other part the better. My thoughts are with Fab, his family and friends, he is a battler on and off the pitch so please, please keep going x

I've not thought of much else all weekend. Very distressing to see pics of the players at WHL, praying on the pitch and the fans in the stands in shock.

Please Fab, keep fighting.

Longest 20 minutes I've ever experienced inside that ground yesterday, a mixture of the quietest of quiets followed by the loudest roar and chants with every compression.

He's been in the best hands possible from the first minute so hopefully he can pull through.

Thoughts are with his family, football is irrelevant at times like this.

Come on big man, keep fighting!

Amazing reaction from the world of football, foes and villains pulling out the stops. Shows it's all one big family above the rivalry.

Been choked all weekend the report in one of the quality papers read the crowd fell eerily silent players and fans praying when huddled in the corner the 6-700 Bolton fans began chanting Fabrice Muamba and then the spurs fans did the same, I don't know why but that cracked me up. Well done to all the fans at WHL especially the paramedics and the heart specialist who I hope have saved his life. Pull through Fabrice and give us all something to rejoice in these trying times.

The Spurs fans have been exceptional throughout all this.Come on Fab...........pull through lad.

My shout remains the same as yesterday at White Hart Lane.

Come on Fabrice!!!!

I can only echo everything here.

He can't have won all the battles he has so far only to lose this one. Wouldn't be fair.

For him, his son and his family, he has to come through. Please.

His life is more important than football but if he can fight this, I hope he can return to playing football, but would this be too much of an ask after what has happened?

It would be a nice touch if Muamba could have one hand on the F.A Cup with Kev Davies/NRC. It seems like the whole football world is praying he can survive this.

This happened to my friend's son when he was an apprentice keeper at Wolves. He was lucky to survive as a medic was on hand but he now has a defib implanted.

Just hope Fabrice gets through this, football isn't important. Thinking of his family and son.

Assuming Fabrice comes off the critical list tomorrow, and by God we are all praying for it, is a full recovery likely?

From what I've read, his heart stopped for two hours. I'm no expert, but surely the knock on effects from that must be enormous and far reaching? However, maybe not. Perhaps he can be up and running by next season?

Can anyone shed any light? Positive vibes seem to be the order of the day.

Come on Fab, wake up tomorrow lad.

I can only echo everything here.

Abidal had cancer last season and now needs a liver transplant.

It's taken something as horrible as this to restore my faith in the human spirit. The way people from all clubs have rallied round has made me feel very humble indeed.

Bullshit about rivalries and petty hatreds fly out of the window.

Must have muttered 'come on Fab' under my breath a hundred times since this time yesterday. Forget football, I just want to see a young man back on his feel again. Come on Fab.

As far as I no, they got his heart going in the ambulance, his heart was then going through machines to keep it going.

The next few hrs will give us more info.

All fingers & toes crossed, And a prayer tonight.

Can we not speculate please.

I understand everyone wants to know what happened and more importantly the outcome but I'd rather us wait until the details are released.

Wolves today.

Fingers crossed that tomorrow morning we hear the news that we all want to hear, come on Fab keep fighting, the world is waiting for you to pull through.

Indeed.

Leave the speculation to others.

But let's all remain positive and strong for Fab.

#comeonfab

I've been thinking of fadiga and him collapsing pre game. Think this is 100 times worse and I honestly can't see him playing professionally again

However, the main thing is the lad pulls through! Come on fab lad!

Many of my patients have had heart attacks/strokes and some eventually go back to there normal selves. Please let Muamba be one of those people.
