Fairly certain no one is arsed, but we're still buzzing so I'm telling you all anyway.  We got incredibly lucky, thankfully! Weather was spot on and it properly set the tone for a perfect day, co

Saddleworth smoke over Leigh now.

Has been really hazy all day here due to the smoke from the fires. Army called in to help so it must be a bad do.

Just seen a photo on NASA, smoke over Southport now and drifting into the Irish Sea.

I'm having to sack some lawns off now. To dry and yellow.

Asking folk to water their lawns in the evening to green them up.

Hardly going to help conserve water!

The council cut the grass in front of our house last week when it was a lush green colour, look's like a dog's dinner now.

Yep. Same here.

They only come once a month now though, and as there were snakes and elephants in it, they had no real option.

Is it true that in parts of America they spray their lawns green in summer?

People took the piss out of me for having 1500 litres of water stored up! Some of the lawns of Harwood look like the Sahara.

I remember you mentioning a while back about getting a water butt.

I too have a big un. Problem is I moved it a while back and haven't yet connected it to a roof so it's empty. :(

TMGJ....I've been away for a week. Will my Lavenders be fucked beyond repair, or will I be able to revive them when I land back on Saturday?

TMGJ, a question:

I know all about watering lawns in direct sunlight being bad for the lawn and ideally should be done once the sun goes down but is no water at all better than water in sunlight?

I'd have thought some water is better than none.

As you were...

In't Google brilliant?

Can’t sleep because of the heat roll call

Frank Passi me that glass of water.

Those who can't sleep either don't work hard enough or have a guilty conscience keeping them up.

Mainly anecdotal evidence I think Micky. I wouldn't have said the droplets focus light, but I look at it from the point of view that when it's raining the sun isn't shining directly onto plants. Once it stops and dries up the sun comes out.

Watering in the morning is good but most folk are off to work so don't have time.

Something relaxing and therapeutic about watering in the eveing, can be done with a an ice cold bottle in the other hand.

Sweep- your lavenders should love this weather.

Plants with that grey/green leaf generally like hot climates.

Can still suffer like anything if no water but should tolerate these conditions better than most.

Went to wolds way lavender just over a year ago in east Yorkshire.

Would imagine climate will be similar to yours.

Always seems to be a heatwave at home when I go away

Is that the type of thing where no matter what club you support you think you always break teams losing streaks etc?

It’s hot here in Cyprus but only a couple of degrees more than Blighty
