Fairly certain no one is arsed, but we're still buzzing so I'm telling you all anyway.  We got incredibly lucky, thankfully! Weather was spot on and it properly set the tone for a perfect day, co

I was reading about that summer the other night. Apparently the winter before it was much like our most recent.

Thinking back to 1995, that’s he hottest summer I remember as a kid, the winter of 94 is the only time I remember proper snow in Blackpool until the big white out in 2010.

Tried to find out what the winter was like after the summer of 76/95 but can’t find much detail other than it generally call comes crashing down in massive downpours in September.

This hurricane in America is gonna balls things up for certain. It’s knock on effect on our jet stream and other cycles could open it all up again.

From memory, the hot spell started on the Friday of Bolton Holidays (middle weekend if Wimbledon) and went on through to Sept. Can’t remember much about the winter before (apart from beating Sunderland with an Allardyce header) but in 77 either early or late, we had the most snow I’ve seen. Remember walking down our street in Adlington after leaving work early and it was up to my waist.

We had a lovely big spell of cold strong wi do in Jan 76 (a la Beast from the East), then a warm sunny May. When it ended in early June, my (knobhead) brother said; “well that’s summer then” and it came back immediately and stayed until early September

This is so much like 1976

Am I making it up or did we end up with stand pipes in 1995?

Got married (first time) in June 76. Had a week off and it pissed down for a week. Had to work all through the hot spell.

I don't remember that.

We didn’t have them in the north west but I think they had them in parts of Yorkshire, who were hit particularly hard.

I’d expect a hosepipe ban up here in the next month or so unless there’s a marked change in the weather, but I’d be amazed if there was a real drought. I think there’s only been one hosepipe ban since 1995, in 2011. It lasted about a month and was due to unusually low rainfall through the first half of the year, which hasn’t been the case this year.

Presumably it’ll rain now that England are out.

In one :)  Quite nice to be honest, first time I've not been a sweaty mess in about two months

Aye, it is here

Out the world cup

Raining again

Summer is over

Just got the smell of petrichor in the first time in ages.

Been pissing it down which is great for winter hill. And my garden.

Was up Longworth road last night. Had a good look at the hillside. Like a scene from a lava flow in Hawaii. Blackened with periodic plumes emanating from inside the ground.

Every so oftend flames would spring up and burn for a minute or two; whilst all terrain vehicles with lights cutting through the gloom trundled around the scorched earth. Like over sized Mars rovers.

Quite eerie really; seen fires up there before but nothing ever like that.

And the sweet smell of petrichor was tremendous.

19 degrees

Luxury

Still sweating my knackers off. A touch cooler maybe, but with the humidity of a jungle.

The smell of rain after a dry spell.

Didn't know it was called that! Every days a school day on here!

Hosepipe ban for us Northerners from 5th August

Watch demand fly through the roof as garden centres sell out of water butts.

It can properly fuck off now.

Flying ants have infested little Thornton and stanah.

Its pandemonium.

It's a bit oppressive, must still be in the high 20's in my garden at the minute. It was up at 32C today at the highest I saw, apparently 35C coming on Thursday   :|

I'm all for decent weather, but this is dragging on for far too long now, I don't reckon my garden has seen so much as a drop of rain for about 5 weeks

I walked across what's left of my lawn the other day and it was crunching away as if i was walking over a pot noodle. I thought '76 was hot but this is hotter and hotter for longer

Don’t worry folks, I’m off on a camping holiday next week - it’ll be pissing down then, trust me.
