Zico Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 Behind crouch, walters, k jones and jerome. And sidibe in the mix aswell. Would have had more chance playing 3rd in line after van persie and Hernandez with more matches. Assuming Rooney is inj and isn't played upfront. Absolutely daft! Stokes current wage bill must be hurrendous with there recent signings. How pleasant it would for them to be threatened with relegation. Don't forget wellbeck He'd have stayed if he could, utd binned him off Quote
Guest Frandsen08 Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 Lest ye forget his signing on fee, he is laughing all the way to the bank. He won't get a signing on fee at 32. Quote
HomerJay Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 He won't get a signing on fee at 32. Really? Why not? I know similar age players who have, but it's paid quarterly rather than all up front. Quote
Guest Frandsen08 Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 Really? Why not? I know similar age players who have, but it's paid quarterly rather than all up front. Unless its a one year contract (which i don't know if it is or not) players in there 30's tend not to get signing on fees unless they have had to relocate countries to sign for a club. Signing on fees nowadays are negotiated for housing costs and aren't a lump sum straight into a bank they go straight to housing costs or and are paid quarterly. In this case i would imagine Owen wouldn't be relocating to stoke so instead of a signing on fee he will get big bonuses, minutes played and goals scored Quote
DazBob Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 Crouch and Owen up front for Stoke then. I'd be excited if I was a Stoke fan. Quote
Zico Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 seems there's 25 players already ahead of Owen that Pulis forgot about... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2198236/Michael-Owen-signs-Stoke-Premier-League-ratify-deal.html Quote
Youri McAnespie Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 (edited) William Hill have laid odds of 13/8 that he won't reach four goals in a Stoke shirt. If this is Premiership or all competitions not sure, if it's Prem only, worth a bit of a wager or a wedge? EDIT: Having read Zico's link I presume betting has been suspended on that one. Pablo Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 I was actually convinced by Owen on Soccer Sunday that he still wanted to play, and that his head was right, till you see he goes to Stoke, as they offered the most money!!!! Quote

L/H White Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 Ashame about his injurys really, he'd of been the leading goal scorer and most capped England player of all time by now, most premiership goals to, or is Big Alan streets ahead? Quote

DazBob Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 should have just stayed at liverpool like steve G Owen has a Premier League winners medal, Stevie Me will never have one of those. Quote
Guest Frandsen08 Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 Owen has a Premier League winners medal, Stevie Me will never have one of those. I think he'll settle for a champions league medal. Quote
DazBob Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 (edited) I think he'll settle for a champions league medal. Haha, touche Owen got the chance to play for Real Madrid, how many players would turn that down? It all went tits up for him after that and IMO the biggest mistake he made was joining Newcastle. Hindsight's a wonderful thing though I guess. .. Besides, the thought of the rage within the Murderers when they saw him kissing the Man Utd badge really did give me a warm feeling inside. HomerJay Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 i just cant see how owen a stoke fit together. they dont play his kind of football he's said in past he had no interest in playing for a lesser team he does have injury problems general thoughts are that he doesnt have the hunger he aint going to be cheap just seems like a huge gamble by mr club shop but he does know where the back of the net is guess. If you turn real or barca down you need your head testing and i agree with you about newcastle. I'd pick playing for stoke or newcastle over liverpool though. God i hate that club. Quote

If he starts up front with crouch, with some decent wingers putting balls in the box his movement alone will see him scoring 10 in the BPL, as long as he can stay fit. Quote
HomerJay Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 good shout i guess. but is michael owen a box player? he certainly wasnt at manure. Quote
DazBob Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 Hoof up to Crouch who flicks it on/nods it down to Owen who puts it in the net. A very simple plan that should work very well... ... if he can stay fit. Quote
Pablo Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 I think he'll settle for a champions league medal. And for 'his' club. Owen's medal is really a cheap Title medal, surely ?? Is their any real point in the likes of Gerrard moving, just to get a medal at a Club he does not care about!!! Quote

DazBob Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 I wonder if we could adopt a plan like that ............ For that plan to work you are going to end up with a lot less posession than the opposition. That means you have to be able to defend well when your opponents have the ball. ... and that is why Stoke are in a division above us. Quote
