Dougie Freedman - New Manager

Bolton News are reporting that Gartside has made an approach for Freedman, but Palace are yet to reply.

The daily mail are also running this story.

Personally would give Jimmy a chance.

  • That just crazy talk mate...lets hound him out before he starts.   Like Zico hinted at,we are a championship club, attracting a top manager without a massive budget is nigh on impossible.   OGS led

I think you need some more intelligent friends...

  • for me, the only mistake there would not have been sacking Coyle sooner, and he even managed to take it to the last day   Lee felt like the right choice at the time, soon as it went tits up, Gartsid

As much as he wants?

When Coyle had got us to Wembley in the FA cup semi final this place was full of folk kissing Fat Phil's ring piece at his inspired appointment of Owen Coyle.

We know how things went from there.

Look at the game of football eventually most managers fail and are sent on their way.

Other than Ferguson, Wenger and Moyes there's not many top flight managers in long term appointments.

Gartside has his flaws but you're a dribbling buffoon if you can't see the logic (flawed or not) behind each manager he's selected.

So Did Mark Curtis get any money from this?

I'm sure that we'll never find out.

The fact of the matter is that even if Mark Curtis didn't get any money out of this, then somebody somewhere would have done, as that is how football works these days

Aye, fair point.

The cynic in me thinks that he may not be the right man for the job, but the right man for Curtis's (or whoever's) bank balance.

I hope the deal to bring Lennie Lawrence to the Reebok is finalised soon as I think that his experience and knowledge could make all the difference, if Coyle would have listened and got himself an experienced side kick I believe that might of saved his job, silly, silly man.

Correct, LL being referred to has DF's "mentor" leaves me with visions of a kid without its comfort blanket.......................

sat on the edge of a very dark woods, full of wolves and scary hairy things that snarl, spit and bite (aka Horwich)

I fully agree with his point, although he is clearly a stubborn man and he was never going to change, a "wise old head" next to him for a couple of seasons might have made all the difference.

That's reassured me. So Did Mark Curtis get any money from this?

There is a full copy of the article on another BWFC forum. Freedman says that he does not have an agent.

I had heard that he doesn't have an agent, and has never had one even when he was a player - I hadn't seen any proof of it though. If he doesn't have an agent, then that'll be quite refreshing

... but, of course, if he does and it's Curtis then Garslime is a cunt and this whole affair stinks.

What I gathered from that Palace site was that he's never had an agent, then suddenly he gets one and bosh, he's suddenly from nowhere, our manager.

Anybody got a link to the full article? It would put this miserable owd bugger's mind to rest.

Is it actually bothering you? :)

I'm just curious. Can't believe no other bugger is?

I can't speak for anyone else, but personally, I'd like to believe Gartside brings in whoever he feels is best for the club, not just to line his own pockets with shady deals.

Maybe I'm just naive though.

Couldn't give a shit who the agent used by the club or by freedman was.

If, in order to get the man Gartside wanted, a few brown envelopes had to be given out then so be it.

See I don't know why the club requires an agent at all

And frankly I do give a shit if it disaffects the process in getting the Manager for my club. As it appeared to have done previously if reports are correct regarding Souness / Curtis - irrespective of if he was the right choice or not

If it doesn't, then I don't care

He doesn't even have an agent.

(Freedman, that is)
