Mounts Kipper Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 How do you know little thought has been put into the set up. The way I see it the academy is vitally important to the long term future of the club. We need good solid and experienced paeople running it and also integrating the "product" into the first team. This is were JP and SL come in. They are highly qualified coaches who have been brought through or brought in to oversee this and make it a success. Why move them to first team and then have to recruit at the academy level when you can bring in a manager who can also fit into the long term project. (DF brings through young players at Palace) I suspect all these discussion have been had with the relavent people as we need to remember the people running our club are experienced businessmen. One would hope your right, history tells me you might be wrong Fred Barber anybody? Quote
Casino Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 owen coyle just cos one bloke couldn't hack it doesn't mean everybody will be the same anyway, if barber is as good as we think he'll be back soon enough, won't he won't he? Quote
Youri McAnespie Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 Surely LSL, having experience of the grass not being greener, isn't a problem? Perhaps this feeling of 'possibly moving on...' refers to Jimmy, with him apparently openly declaring his interest in managing the first team full time (I've not read this anywhere, but take it on good authority). But, happen it's better to have Jimmy with his nose pushed out of joint a bit, instead of having some ill-advised management 'trio' of old-boys (and one proven failure at first team management level). I was of the 'anyone but Big Mick' school of thought - so I'm naturally relieved it's not him. Time will tell, but I've a feeling, nay, it's a nailed on certainty, that pitchforks are already against the grinder and torches are being doused in readiness. I reckon a run of LDL in any permutation will see grey marls and bedsheets unfurled amongst the yoof. Werthers spat out in disgust by the older lot. The first one to utter "I wanted Mick McCarthy..." however, should be offered as human sacrifice... Quote

I presume it's like any career. Highs and lows for many, form is only temporary though. Quote
DazBob Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 Apologies if been mentioned above, but confirmed news that Dougie Freedman won't be in charge of Palace for their game tonight. Looks like it's pretty nailed on he's our new manager. Quote
superjohnmcginlay Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 (edited) Bbc manc says he's in charge for Saturday Welcome to bolton and good luck Doug http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20022190 Edited October 23, 2012 by superjohnmcginlay Quote
Casino Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 he's hardly in a position to 'manage them' if he's talking to us somewhere Quote
no balls Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 DFSWA. Any bedsheeters out there to welcome him? Quote
DazBob Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 ... and especially if he's no longer their manager. Coppell back to Selhurst Park? Should make shower time for the academy more interesting. Quote
superjohnmcginlay Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 Quite excited by the appointment, completely different it will either be the worse thing ever or the opposite Quote
Biggish Dave Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 I don't know a great deal about his management style other than that Palace were organised against us and deserved the win. At least he isn't Megson, Kean or Keane so good luck to him - if he gets confirmed as boss. If he stays at Palace, bollocks to him Quote
Guest Frandsen08 Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 looking forward to his reign. COYWM! Quote
Youri McAnespie Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 They're already debating the various merits and shortcomings of (arse)Ole Bummer Sexwee-ar on Holmesdale.net Some wags are taking it in good spirits with light-hearted suggestions like Harry Redknapp, Paul McCartney and Jimmy Savile (Although I think that scouse psychic channeling him would be more appropriate).
