All my mums side are United fans (from Manchester, well Cheshire), but to be fair one of my uncles from that side took me to my first games at Burnden because Bolton are my local club and I've never looked back since. I've not got any kids, and don't plan on doing for a while yet, but if/when I have any, they will brought up in BWFC attire, taught about the joys of supporting the whites (I'll pick the decent bits out) and will be taken to games as soon as they're old enough. They will literally have no choice in the matter.
December 13, 201213 yr i nearly gave up watching bolton in the early 90's , when i got a job working away all week. 2 things stopped me drinking with my mates, and i could never ever let my kids grow up supporting another team. both been season ticket holders since they were 3 years old. eldest was a ball boy, youngest is now. what i would have done to have been one.
December 13, 201213 yr My son is 3 and has had 3 Bolton kits already. He will be a Bolton fan but I have a battle against in-laws who support the scum. Need to stand firm against all glory hunters!

December 13, 201213 yr Dad was a Wanderers fan and took me when I was 5yo. He reckoned his dad went to Pikes Lane (yeah, I'm a old 'un). No kids myself, but always tried to get my nephews & nieces interested - which they still are in a vague way. Except 1 niece and her two lads - they're as keen as me, even though brought up & based on south coast. It's a family thing.

December 13, 201213 yr My Grandad's a blackburn fan, my dad supported Bolton because of John Byrom (was his uncle John for while as was with his auntie), so we've always gone to all home games together. If/when I have kids I really will insist on he/she being a Bolton fan
December 13, 201213 yr Most kids at my lads schools support either Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and the likes, even a couple of Citeh fans have appeared in the last year. There are no big clubs round here so it's easy to support a bigger club. My eldest started to support Liverpool when he was 5 because his mates did and he didn't want the piss taken out of him, he changed when he was 8 to Bolton and now wears his shirt with pride, my youngest was Bolton from the off. We'll all be at Peterborough watching a proper team.
December 13, 201213 yr My grandad, and his dad , my dad all supported Bolton and lived in Great Lever so hardly surprising. I was born in London as was my son and we both support the wanderers. He's further up this thread. My other half use to support city but switched too. Most people I know who don't want their offspring to follow suit never go to games. They like the media gossip stuff but I really think they have no real passion. They really can't be seen as supporters just sky box fans.
December 13, 201213 yr 3/3 Eldest season ticket holder and regular away follower with me, 2nd one getting half season ticket off Father Christmas, young daughter sings jingle bells, with oh what fun it is to see the wanderersways win away, she's on the way. Passed down 3 generations, wouldn't, couldn't and shouldn't be anything else.

December 14, 201213 yr Moved to Bolton as a toddler; even though he was a City fan, my old fella never tried to indoctrinate me to blue ways. At primary school, Frank Worthington was doing his stuff and a number of kids were whites and I got into it that way. Shortly after he was born, I bought the little un a season ticked to guarantee the seat next to me when he was old enough. Did this for a couple of years. When he did eventually come, they games were total shite: seen around 4 and yet to see a goal. Now hw's not arsed about football at all!
December 14, 201213 yr My little man has no choice in the matter. With me, my dad and my brother all determined he's gonna be a wanderer. My dad is from a family of manyoo fans. When he started seeing my mum, me grandad (who has been going since 1938) dragged him down burnden 'to see a proper football team'. My grandad is ace.

December 15, 201213 yr i tried taking my son in 89 when he was 4 he hated everything except the pies, then had to take him to Bradford in our 96/97 campaign when he was 11 and he caught the bug. Took the daughter in 98 when she was 4 and it stuck too.

December 15, 201213 yr It's the parents fault, i have 3 sons and 1 grandson who are all Bolton fans, so a 100% success rate in my house hold I hate to agree with the resident pensioner, but he's right. Parents, instill some values in your spawn FFS! I'm also a 100%er. Both my kids were taught at a very early age that they supported Bolton. They were also taught that pretending to support a bigger team but never getting to a game would be pointless because no one would ever take them to a game. They were also taught that Manchester United is, actually, a swearword and must not be uttered in my house.
December 15, 201213 yr Proud to say my daughter is a nailed on Wanderer and been a ball assistant for a season which is an experience she said she will never ever forget. So a life of misery ahead of her ;-)
