Lofthouse Statue

There's an actual picture of it on the website now.

To be unveiled on 27th August.

You can still purchase bricks for the surrounding.

Could someone do the honours with the picture, I don't know how.

I get the feeling I will be disappointed when I see the finished work.

Arsenal used to have a set of panels all the way round the middle tier of The Emirates with silhouettes of the trophies they've won. I think there was a similar tribute around the middle tier at Wembley for the F.A. Cup semi-final, listing all the clubs that had won the trophy.

Vital advertising space. How else will people get the number for chorley electrical or boss office supplies?

I don't know about anyone else but football hoardings are the last place I would think about finding a company

They are not predominantly to make you choose a company but make you "brand aware"

Hugo Boss are selling paperclips?

Fuck me, those lying Tory bastards said the recession was over.

I'll never forget Ingersoll-Rand...

They pulled in all the big names to advertise on the boards when TV was there in the 70's

The spaz chariot drivers missed a trick, they could have whacked an advert on the side of their vehicles before parking pitch side at Burnden.

I'll never forget Ingersoll-Rand...

Haha...

Yep.

Thought we had made it to the big time when they finally painted over it and put a flashy scoreboard up.

They bought that on the cheap, all the manuals and everything were in Czech or Hungarian...They give it to the 'tech' lads and told 'em to get it working.

Just watched Nat Lofthouse this is your life on YouTube. Emotional to say the least.

Massive emotional suprise for me this weekend, my kids have bought me double block underneath the statue next to Diouf,

I'm alway passionate about the club as I love it have done since 10 years old, but if things not right will always speak from the heart I don't know any other way it's how I was brung up.

There's no other way, Mounts.

we need more of this type of tributes about our great past. I hope this is the first of many, the disaster should be remembered, as should our 4 fa cup wins, these type of memorials tributes identify our club. Also love the new badge.

Couldn't agree more, Mounts.

Well, except for the new badge. If we're remembering our history, it's 1874 and not the marketing men's 1877 (as I've said elsewhere).

Rest in peace that man. Can't believe it's been 5 years

Hope we don't go into Administration today; would be the ultimate slur

R.I.P Mr Lofthouse

This ere statue; is it more, or less, mobile than Madine?

Can't believe it's been half a decade already. I clearly remember being in my living room and getting a call from my Dad, in tears at the news of the Great Man's passing.

R.I.P Sir Nat.

No doubt Nat will be turning in his grave given our current predicament.

No doubt Nat will be turning in his grave given our current predicament.

Especially since he's no longer around to save us as he did in the 80s, Legend in many many ways, and what we'd give for his love of the club right now!

No doubt Nat will be turning in his grave given our current predicament.

A lot of people from our history will be turning in their graves, right back to 1874, and including those lost in the Burnden Disaster.

Just a genuine hero gone but never ever forgotten
