Agree with much of that. Despite what some folk think, nothing against Nixon, seems a decent enough fella.

But he's all about his sources. In the Coyle era, he had it nailed on with BWFC rumour, but with Freedman, his sources seem a lot weaker, probably agents and word from other more friendly club sources elsewhere. He has some info, that's certain. But it's vague - and if he's breaking it on Twitter, probably even more vague as that makes him no money. Hence the riddles.

Personally I don't really care who we might sign, only who we have signed. If folk enjoy Nixon's hints, good on them. No harm in it.

Nixon gets it right more than he gets it wrong. On the whole I hate journalists. However it has to be acknowledged he clearly has good contacts and sources. It is true that he is less accurate since Coyle left - but he is still worth following on Twitter.

The mystery is why he is so talkative on Twitter. It can't just be because he likes being sociable. Ultimately he probably has an eye on his own subscription only website and is building up a following to direct to it when he is ready. If so, fair play to him. Not sure it'd work mind you!

I agree he gets it right more than wrong that seems to upset some on here fuck knows why.

I don't follow Nixon, so I only know what I read on here.

But if someone throws up enough rumours, aren't some likely to be correct - more or less ?

the funny thing is he never gets it wrong.

he never ever says they are signing unless they are signing.

Nixon is quite reliable. I do follow him on Twitter and he does get quite a lot of stuff right. What I would take with a pinch of salt though, is when he does one of his so called specials, where he links us with a spectacular signing, which usually comes to nothing. Jordan Rhodes and Wilfried Zaha spring to mind.

People do like to say that he's said people are signing though (even when he hasn't) - such as the Rhodes rumour last year

aye, it's not his fault if they say something different to what he's said though.

as for why he does it, how old is he, 50 or so?

he's probably nothing better to do than sit on twitter and look for attention, he's not the only one

doesn't mean he lies.

he says we're interested in a player

if it goes any further he says

if it doesn't, he says

when they sign, he's tell us before anyone else

he has never once said we are signing a player we haven't

Alan Nixon is well in with the powers that be at Bolton. Doesn't mean he gets to know ins and outs of every transfer, but definitely well connected so I suspect there is more than an element of truth in his stories.

Let it go. You'll get an ulcer.

Clubs use journalists just as much as players and agents to engineer moves

It's in the clubs interest to have a few on side so they can use them as and when they require

To keep them on side I'm quite sure the club, scouts, management or press office throw the off bone here and there as a return favour

This striker that Nixon has been hinting at us signing on loan, he's supposed to be youngish and a target man that is at a Premier football club. I like a bet now and then and my money would be on Chris Wood. Leicester are still sniffing around Troy Deeney and they're interested in another striker too.

He isn't.

The powers that be give info to the BN beat the likes of Nixon to it. Fact with a cherry on top.

Nixon's name was raised at one of the fans forum which Dougie headed. He said something along the lines of he knew their was a mole / rat within the dressing room and that he was going to put a stop to info being leaked.

and the year before Garty told the same fans forum he was a personal friend of 20 years.

I bet knight mears ngog and eagles are sweating with less than a week to go to KO or are they just waiting for the auction as clubs get desperate?

Reckon we'll see Eagles back

Well, according to folk on here further down this thread (I don't follow Nixon on Twitter these days) he said the Fontaine on trial thing was rubbish - then he turned up in a trial game.

There's an anomaly for a start.
