Nixon tweeting regarding this loan striker;

Waiting on a club signing a striker and sending one on loan to u ... worth the wait ...

Works well with what u want to play around him ... at top of list with couple of similar types ... young and outstanding.

Also said he's a target man and goalscorer. 20 goal target wouldnt be unreasonable.

Connor Whickham.

Exactly what i thought, they're after borini too.

But i just read he's in the last year of his contract, poyet has said he either signs a new deal or will be sold.

Id have thought Whickham would have played himself into their (or another PL team's?) first team plans with his Player Of The Month performances at the end of last season. Linked with West Ham and Newcastle today.

I agree, he finished off quite well last season. I would have thought he'll be staying in the PL

Nixon says young and outstanding and is worth the wait. He's certainly building it up. I remember he did that with the Tuncay loan. Built it up as though we were signing Ronaldo

You don't sell papers without sensationalism

I'm not convinced either way if Nixon knows much stuff these days or just gathers vague crap

I thought of Kane too, but he has hardly been prolific anywhere. 2 in 15 at Leicester at this level. Spurs also only have 3 strikers.

Nixon is definitely bigging it up again. Hard not to expect someone decent.

Being relatively new on here - who is this Nixon fella and is he normally accurate?

all the judges will tell you no

but he's been the first to beak every single one of our transfers for the last 5 years.

@reluctantnicko on twitter, writes for the mirror. In my opinion he definitely builds up interest by being vague, but he does seem to be our best source.

In the modern era where players in League One are millionaires with a string of agents, Nixon is a nobody unless he has a source lower down the pecking order e.g. the kitman/tea lady (which he did in Coyle's crew). Fuck knows why he keeps blethering on about us or why people engage him. Obviously he fucking loves the attention. Modern day Clubcall.

Agree with much of that. Despite what some folk think, nothing against Nixon, seems a decent enough fella.

But he's all about his sources. In the Coyle era, he had it nailed on with BWFC rumour, but with Freedman, his sources seem a lot weaker, probably agents and word from other more friendly club sources elsewhere. He has some info, that's certain. But it's vague - and if he's breaking it on Twitter, probably even more vague as that makes him no money. Hence the riddles.

Personally I don't really care who we might sign, only who we have signed. If folk enjoy Nixon's hints, good on them. No harm in it.

He only hhad 5 starts at Leicester, so 2 from 15 tells less than half a story.

I followed Kane's career with interest from early days, as he had a namesake who played CF for Leyton Orient reserves in about 1950, but retired at 21/22 after shoulder injuries. He turned to athletics and became an international athlete at 400m Hurdles.

For a long time I thought he might be HK's grandfather, but no longer think so.
