Cheers CWP, that's a flag to be proud of, in my opinion, not 'wanky' at all.

I concur Youri

The BBC seem to favour a vote for independence

Groats.

I see one poll has the 'Yes' vote in front.

I'll believe it when I see it. We can't be that lucky.

Only by one point and only when weighted to remove the opinion of those most likely to vote No, ie nearly half a million English people living up there. But obviously still a slow news day meaning this has been blown out of all proportion and has given the Yes folks a boost which may well succeed in making the vote closer than it should be.

I agree your analysis.

Unfortunately, they will be staying

does a good result for the yes vote in the opinion poll not boost the no vote on the day

surely it will drag more no voters out if they think its close

Theoretically I think you could well be right. The 12% or so of undecided are you would think more likely to vote no and might also now be better motivated to go and actually vote. We shall see what other polls say in the coming days.

There was another poll released on the same day which had the no’s at 52% and the yes's at 48%. Not sure why there are no don't knows in there........

I really do wonder about the running of the Better Together campaign though. Uninspiring, driven by negativity and headed by the totally uncharismatic Alistair Darling. A fuck up basically. So the closest my country has come to being demolished was not by the Germans, but by the rank amateurishness of the political class in the UK. What an irony if the Union ceases to be whilst the Conservative and Unionist Party is in power.......

I think that it has ceased to be known as the Conservative and Unionist Party

Whilst Cameron gave them the referendum, I see that as a positive thing.

Blair started it by granting develotion, but Salmond is totally culpable by driving a wedge between Britain and Scotland. This is a cynical fool. Unfortunately, many Scots haven't seen through him. If the No for Britain vote goes through, they'll have plenty of time to see the error of their ways.

I think that it has ceased to be known as the Conservative and Unionist Party

It is still its official full title. I think it is a long while since they campaigned under it though apart from when they and the Ulster Unionists ran some joint candidates over the water a couple of years ago, getting nowhere.

He didn't. The SNP won a majority in their parliament which they could do what they wanted with, including this referendum. There were no constitutional grounds on which Cameron could have refused.

It's pretty hard to argue in favour of the status quo without focusing heavily on the negatives of the opposing view. Campaigning for no was always a shit job and if anything they should be more negative. It would be good if Darling could lead the Labour Party after the general election and draw Scottish Labour voters back away from the SNP. He's a good egg. Shame about his party. But the union, as we now see, depends on Labour being viable north of the border and in Wales unless the Tory vote magically recovers..

Well yes but all three of our main parties are unionist. Many Scots will be voting yes out of anti Tory sentiment alone. For the SNP there could never be a better time for a poll than with the Tories in charge down south. But Cameron, whether he likes it or not, may well have to resign if they vote yes. Really depends on how much the remainder of the UK decides it gives a shit.

It's back - The Maggie Tate multi-quote!

Me ves y sufres!

I've just read that if Scotland do vote for independence that the average lifespan of a UK male will rise by 0.4 years.

Because we won't have the burden of Scotland on our backs?

That will probably do far more good for the No campaign than a whole army of Middle class , ex public school, English politicians going up trying to persuade them to vote no.  Only reverse psychology works on a reverse wired jock brain, which most seem to have!

Great article by Simon Heffer in this morning's Daily Mail

He says, essentially "Fuck Off"

If they vote "yes" to be a depedent nation in Europe rather than a dependent nation in the UK, I will feel sorry for those Scots who really see themselves as British.
