Let's forget all this plasterer / mechanic nonsense, he's a high profile footballer and as such, a role model and someone who deals with the wider public on a constant basis. He isn't working in a sma

i'm not sure evans is that good

so how about would you have a 25 year old andy walker having been convicted of rape and served his time

i would

but thats based purely on football and not the sponsors/fans opinions - the lost revenue could well outweigh the goals but if youre asking do i have a problem with an ex con playing for us, i dont think i do?

No, it's just about Ched Evans. We've had people playing for us with convictions before, you take each one on merit.

so he used to live in a garage... does that make him a deviant?

I didn't say it did. It simply gives a good overall picture of where things stand.

Depends on the crime so becomes a personal call.

But no I would not have Andy Walker in the team if he was a rapist.

id not want ched evans cos hes not worth the hassle

andy walker would be

Note the air rifle indiscretion... and the lack of an apology from CE. He seems like Joey Barton but without a brain.

Fuck me Joey Barton had a brain, when did they find it

Plasterer, football, rocket surgeon.

They all abide by the same laws, the same punishment, and the same rehabilitation.

If I had two job applications for one job, one from a lad who wasn't that clever and little experience and one from a convicted gay rapist who otherwise was perfect for the job, but chose the simple lad I'd be bang to fucking rights for discriminating against the better candidate.

Rehabilitation ? His team has hired private detectives/journalists to discredit the victim, when they found nothing they slagged the journalists off and hired another, he is not rehabilitated he does think he did anything wrong.

Same laws, punishment etc etc but different jobs. You know that and comparing to lads on site is like saying Little Whitt should not be denied the opportunity to fly a passenger jet because that is his childhood dream. The fact no one would fly on a plane when the pilot climbs out of the luggage rack after pissing over the stewardess should not let us deny him his dream.

I'm with Ani on this, as he says he hired the most expensive and clever lawyers in the land and the case was still proven. The guy should wait until he has had his review.

Got to admit that did make me laugh.

So, going by your point of view, are you saying its worse being raped by a footballer than a plasterer?

If the answer is no then the arguement falls on its arse. One law for every man as I've said all day.

If the answer if yes then you're being judgemental simply because of his proffession, when in actual fact for every Gundi Bergson we could find a Fred West type plasterer.

Fucking role model - how many times do we have to hear this?

Stevie G, DJ Twatter, Ryan Giggs, sister in law shagger, Wayne Rooney, prozzie user. Anymore fir any more? Not rapists, no, but they're hardly lads I'd want my kid to follow in the social footsteps of.

I asked Ched Evans the best way to Oldham.

'round the throat after a bottle of vodka' wasnt the reply I expected."

The case was proven because he admitted having sex with her but, she was that drunk it couldn't be proven she properly consented!

She even admitted to being wankered and not remembering.

Show me a man who's never been in that position and I'll show you a homosexual.

As far as I am concerned, his sentence seemed lenient and I still don’t agree with people being released half way through a prison term; however, those points aside, he has served the sentence that he was given by a court of law and he should be able to seek employment now that he has served it.

I don’t think that being in the public eye should make a difference as to whether he is allowed to look for a job as a professional footballer. It's a slippery slope if we start saying all celebs who are convicted of a crime should step back from the limelight, or make judgement calls on which crimes / professions should warrant such expulsion. But maybe I would think differently if I had children and had first-hand experience of them looking at footballers as role models.

That said, the very fact that he is a public figure and that this has attracted publicity is his downfall. To run the business of a football club (which is what league clubs are, now) you need to consider revenue streams from sponsorship and fans (although I doubt there would be much of a drop in attendances) and of course the effect any such actions would have on the "brand" that is the football club. As a result, due to the public nature of his job, Evans is going to struggle to find a new one where negative publicity affects the business so much.

Other things of note – should he show remorse/apologise? Whether he should is irrelevant because his legal team will tell him not to – it would suggest guilt, which isn’t great when appealing a decision. It'll be interesting to see what happens if the appeal fails. Also, I bet most of the 20,000 who signed the Oldham petition signed the Sheffield one too. I doubt too many of them are season ticket holders at Oldham. If Cambridge Utd were to offer him a job, there'd probably still be 20,000 people sign a petition, less a few who can't be arsed logging in to sign yet another petition.

Then again, that's just my opinion.

that sponsor on ssn is loving the free publicity

that sponsor on ssn is loving the free publicity

And that's exactly why say they'll pull their name, not daft are they.

Yeah, 'not rapists'.

Yeah, 'not rapists'.

so, where is the line

for you

so, where is the line

for you

exactly. I'd have thought killing someone was more heinous but maybe not as they're allowed to work again in Football.

Got to admit that did make me laugh.

What I am saying is that comparing his job with a 'normal' job is wrong.

Average wage for a plasterer say £20k per year or more or less, the fact is they get paid what they are worth to a company.

As a footballer his value to a club is less than it worse, probably would cost them more than he is worth that is a fact of his chosen profession, his actions have put him in this position, so he will not get a job as a professional footballer. Tough shit.

There are thousands of lads out there who dreamt of being professional footballers who for no fault of their own can not follow their dream, one reason being they are shit footballers, this prick had it all and blew it.

If I get declared bankrupt I would have fuck all chance of keeping my job, because of the nature of my job. That is just the way it goes he is in the same position. He may have to get a lower paid job, maybe as a plasterer, but still do not see why he has some god given right to go back to being highly paid footballer just cos he wants to.

Should a club be forced to sign him to keep him happy. I think he will end up playing again but not at the level he once was especially if he never says he did wrong.

As far as I am concerned, his sentence seemed lenient and I still don’t agree with people being released half way through a prison term; however, those points aside, he has served the sentence that he was given by a court of law and he should be able to seek employment now that he has served it.

He's out on license so hasn't served his time yet.

Top of the list might be Luke McCormick who killed 2 children whilst drink driving, but has since been appointed club captain at Plymouth & has played every game this season for them without any apparent internet petition/witch hunt.
