The point is a moral one, the idea a rapist is acceptable because he is good footballer and will score goals is nonsense to me. I can see (but not agree with) the arguement he has done his time. It is a cheap comeback but what if it was a female relative of yours that was the victim, would the goals per season needed to want him increase ? If he does get the conviction over turned then that becomes a different case but I would think that there are enough good players out there without rape convictions for us to win without him.

Hughes and McCormick have been accepted back so it is clear that in some peoples eyes that is the right thing to do, I would not want either at Bolton. If two people had committed the same crime I would not decide it was OK morally to employ one of them, because they were great at the job but not the other because he was just OK.

Came back to box for world titles, etc. Even became a Hollywood actor in the Hangovers. How many folk chose not to go to the cinema to watch those films because if featured a convicted rapist? What I do know, however, is that plenty of other footballers have been accused and found not uilty. Ronaldo being about the highest profile. Makes you wonder what the outcome would have been with the weight of Man U on your side.

November 14, 201411 yr He was found guilty and as a Pro footballer and supported by his girlfriends millionaire father he would have had slightly better than the duty solicitor representing him If his appeal if successful then it all changes. But reading comments on other sites it is sad how people have quickly concluded the girl is in the wrong and he is a good honest lad doing what young lads do. Surprising his girlfriend has stuck by him as he has had to admit that he shagged another girl. The one question was did the other girl want him to or consent to the shag Sort of blows the nice honest lad theory out the window if he is shagging about behind her back. I am not saying just cos he wandered he must be a rapist but it does not help his case as sure the prosecution would have used it to raise questions about his character.
