In the EL FA Cup winners plus fifth in the league go straight to the group stage. As both FA Cup finalists will be in the top 5, sixth will also go to the group stage.

The League Cup winners (or in this case the seventh in the league) face three 2-leg ties to reach the group stage.

It means Burnley will play on 26 July and 2 August. If they win they will play on 9 and 16 August, and if they win again they will play on 23 and 30 August. So not many Saturday matches in the early season.

Wet midweek night in a Div 4(?) game at Leeds Road stood on their open end getting pissed wet through. Trevor Morgan toebunger sees us win 1-0

 

Coppers locked us in at the end of the game. Massive crush trying to exit as they didn't bother to tell us that we were locked in. Plenty of time for their lot to make it round to the away end and brick us as we were leaving. Saw a lot of bad stuff that night with innocents getting clouted with bricks being thrown and the coppers doing fuck all

 

That said.....years later....the ale trail is a great away day so long as you keep away from the usual not-rights
