I'm not a fan of what I'm about to say because it's used unnecessarily at times. But Oldham is a proper northern club. Good to see them back in the league. Chuffed for 'em.

Will people stop going on about the glory days of the european cup when it was just for champions

For the romantics, i get champions only was as it should be, but fuck me, second in england or spain or some shite from luxembourg losing by 11 to liverpool

I dont like the format as its skewed towards the better teams, but fuck me, its harder to win than it was

And bolty is reet, for once

All sorts of shit qualified for the CWC

Didnt mean it wasnt an exciting, respected competition

I was only talking about English clubs.

Don't really know enough about foreign ones.

Not sure about snobbery, it's a financial concern for a lot of clubs that the prem has to be the be all and end all. Which again points to too many average teams being in Europe.

Nah, it points to clubs prioritising money over actual pots n pans.

2/3 prem places is worth good money, so those that run the clubs push that as priority….

As others have said, Bayern win virtually everything every year in Germany. It was only really a 3 way fight in Italy for a long time so one more than the PL. Madrid seemed to have it sewn up well before the seasons end in Spain. I think you're influenced by the shadow cast across Stanley Park.

Yes we have a City and Liverpool fight at the moment but I suggest that it would be unwise to think this will be year in, year out. Spurs are on the rise as are the Geordies and Boehly and Co. won't be fucking about at Chelsea.

The weight of money won't just be in the hands of two clubs and that will stir things up a bit I suspect. Not sure that Howe can mix it with the likes of Tuchel, Klopp, Guardiola and Conte mind but time will tell.

The top team in a league sways ppls thoughts on an over-all league.

Just cos city are one of the best teams ever, doesn't make the league the best.

the quality of football and standard of games in the prem is poor imo, its kick n rush compared to other leagues….

The key part.

Rather than 'kick and rush' I would use the term 'high pace, high energy'. It's what has shebeens in Guguletu and opium dens in Afghanistan packed out at game times. It is also what has caused tens of millions of replica shirts to be regularly on show in China.

'Kick and rush' does it a massive disservice.

Kick and Rush :D

Theres English teams in every European Final every single season, not just the top 2.

Teams like Brentford and Brighton in midtable dont play kick and rush ffs.

Look at the signings Villa have made, they will struggle to get near top 6 given how strong the league is.

Liverpool are nearer to kick & rush than Brighton. For me Liverpool are the most entertaining team in the premier league.

That can’t be argued surely. The simple fact is ‘the big 6’ (laughable on its own merits) we’re fined a couple of quid for resigning from the league.

You don't know what sensible is. x

Liverpool aren't as high intensity as they used to be in Klopp's first couple of years. They were really manic there, every game was like a basketball match and it was unsustainable. They play much more considered now against most teams who just sit back but when they play a team that are willing to attack them, they can up the tempo again.

I have a mate who is a Liverpool fan and he said the football they played in the season where they finished one point behind City was the best football he'd ever seen. Whereas now they're more possession-based a lot of the time.

Disagree.

Champs league is dull as anything early on.

The mini leagues make it more unlikely that a smaller club progresses via a couple of giant killing wins like a straight knock out.

Tedious.

Fuming 😂

Ha ha, One of the replies....." you should go back & wait there for a few hours tomorrow, they might have got the wrong day "

All the English pundits seem to be predicting Liverpool. I think Madrid are going to win this. Spurs did a great counter attack job on them and Real will probably do a similar tactic but with better players.

Very little to separate City and Liverpool so given Real beat City you would think points to Real...but in the first leg City should have killed them off and in second Real did not have a shot on goal in first 90. I think scousers win by 2 goals at least.

They should win by two goals at least, they have the better team. But Real have unbelievable individuals that are a match for all of Liverpools squad.

Not that arsed who wins just hoping for entertainment as last 3 CL finals have been dreadful

Looks like it’s a trip to Burslem next season
