Tom Walker

What do people think of this kid?

To me appears a real mixture. He can beat a man but rarely beats two or three. His delivery from set pieces and crosses is often superb. Yet he can just drift through periods of games, lose possession cheaply and then run out of steam part way through the second half.

I guess none of the above is untypical of a footballer of his age - but at the moment "frustrating" is clearly a word that could be applied. He clearly has something though.

.... he reminds me (not necessarily in style but certainly in impact) of Scott Green in his first few years at Bolton. Could show glimpses of brilliance but could be as annoying as hell.

We certainly can't yet say he's going to be a fixture in the way Vela and Clough will be/are.

WW in "lets slag a promising young player off and boo the fuck out of him next home game" shocker   Get a fucking grip

It's brilliant the kids are being put in, they're buzzing their spuds off and the feel good factor will be spreading down the different age groups at the club. I can't knock Lennon for it, fair play.

  • I think he looks terrific. He hadn't played in the first team til a few weeks ago and now he's a regular. Lennon wouldn't do that if he wasn't intending him being a part of his plans. He's big, strong

Very attack minded winger, reminds me of Marcos Alonso. His one downside I've seen so far is he's slow in the tackle but that can be ironed out in time.

Talented but dozy

a child

yet folk seem to want to abuse him

even when hes clearly uncomfortable in the role hes been asked to play

Absolutely.

That cross for Le Fondre against Norwich was one of the best assists this season.

We need some perspective and to let him develop.

Scott Green never showed glimpses of brilliance.

Have the bedwetters been giving him shit?

Ryan was saying yesterday how much he loves him.

Ryan was saying yesterday how much he loves him.

Isn't that just a sexual thing though

He reminds me of a young Adam Johnson (only without the questionable nightclub tastes). Very comfortable with the ball at his feet. Good delivery. Can only improve. Certainly the type of player who we should be looking to develop. I suspect he'd be out on loan and not in the first team if we had been playing for either a at off place or to avoid relegation. He's been trained as a winger or an inside forward though - hard to give him stick for not understanding a winger back role. Like him.

he's terrible, shit crosses, bad touch, and he put a fucking corner into the stands

I think he will be ok. He's not yet a regular in a top half championship team but hopefully he will develop with the experience he is getting. Learning the game currently. Has to learn when to run with it and when not to.

That corner was proper Sunday league stuff

Good grief

Are folk on Walker's back already?

Fucking hell

Virtually every professional footballer will have done that at some point in their career

We've been forced to use him a season too early.

Benefit of doubt.

I thought he did alright yesterday.

It didn't help him that as a very left footed player, he played a large part of the game very wide on the right wing but was still trying to control the ball with his left foot.

He's got the potential to become a good player with more experience ( & a bit of work on his right foot)

My mate is good friends with him. He's a kid ffs and he was absolutely over the moon when he first got a spot on the bench. To start so many games recently is a great effort and he said that its fucking hard work compared to playing in the development squad with lads his own age.

I'd rather have him, clayton,Clough, vela and the likes that Eagles, spearing and Andrews.

I honestly thought our youth system was dead and burried a couple of seasons ago.

Now it's looking like a decent set up.

Someone needs to tell him he is a centre back. Bloody giant wingers! It's not right

A couple of years ago is when the Youth team last reached the QFs of the FA Youth Cup.

A couple of years ago is when Bolton Youth became the only visiting team ever to score 8 at White Hart Lane.

A couple of years ago Smithills Get came up with this gem:

"How disappointing is that? When they thrash Tottenham it raises hopes we might have 2 or 3 coming through but it was obviously just a poor quality intake at Tottenham .I'll be amazed if there's more than 1 in Bolton's side has a career in the top two divisions.Back in the 70s when there wasn't the Sky money to attract all the foreigners a run to the quarter finals would mean you had 3 or 4 who'd have a career in football. Not now though."

The Tottenham team, by the way, had a player who appeared in the 2014 World Cup.

Walker shows some promise but he's still very raw and has a lot to learn. I do think he'll make it though but we have to be patient like we do will all the kids.

Lennon believes he's worth a place in the team so that will do for me

He doesnt look a world beater yet but theres some good potential there i reckon. He certainly doesnt look out of place which i think is good considering his age and recent introduction to first team football.

These lads will only grow into it by playing imo.

I thought he played well yesterday much to Ryan's disagreement outside the ground haha

Everything he does is positive, sometimes the wrong decision or has a poor end product but the lads 19 remember.

He will come good.

The fact he's been taking set pieces ahead of Bannan show show quality his delivery can be.

Good players sometimes fuck up.

He is a kid, gives ball away too much, he can learn.

Good feet can cross a ball.
