How is it considerably weaker??

 

Considering we have a gazillion players coming back from injury suggests that we will be going into the season with a stronger sqaud already.

 

Pratley was on course for player of the season before his injury. Keeping him is a coup IMO.

 

Amos is more than an adiquet replacement for Bogdan.

 

Gary Madine is more than an adiquet replacement for cavies too.

Medo and Spearing? Players Lennon shifted out last season and by all reports he wants shut of again. Well that's filled me with confidence.

 

Baptiste is possible because Lennon hasn't worked with him. But no way do Medo and Spearing count as anything other than wage hoggers at this stage.

 

We don't have a better squad than last seasons we've lost in my view our best centre back. We don't have a proper centre back in the squad now. We have no right back. Moxey as our only genuine left back. No midfield monster to dominate games, something we missed visibly all last season. No regular goalscorer up front. Having Clough and Clayton back is great but to put expectation on young shoulders coming back from injury is incredibly dangerous.

 

Sorry I don't see us being better. I see us getting worse. We are just so short in key areas. Where is the physicality we missed last season coming from? Where will the solid back four arise from? Where are the goals?

Taylor as youngster who can be 4th in the pecking order

Pratley re-signing was a bonus, Lennon had him playing like a different player.

Clough, Clayton, Wheater, Davies and Baptiste returning will definitely make us stronger if they are all fit.

I don't see Spearing staying, I think he will be loaned out again.

The two main gaps currently are midfield enforcer (Palacios) and goal poacher (ALF).

If he gets good players for these positions I don't think we are too bad.

Also sorry to see Eidur going (again) but that is the reality for our finances.

Good news, two solid signings and the player we missed the most last season re- signing when it looked like he may be offski. 

Still a lot to do but solid start. And no way am I having it that Mills was our best central defender.Good riddance and good luck working with Deadly Doug again, deserve each other.

Just remember back to the end of the season and how according to many here most of our squad was not good enough. Likes of Dervite, Feeney, Danns etc were taking pelters. In my view those problems still exist. I just don't yet see a brave new world for us. Not yet at least.

 

People are saying things like 'Palacios fills a gap' but apparently he's overweight and unfit. And we've not talked numbers yet. Still feel we've a lot to do and not much money if any to do it with.

I think most people are clued up enough to realise that this is the first day of the transfer window, not the last.

Madine however is an accident waiting to happen on past form. If he could confine his physical assaults to the field of play he could make a decent player.

Don't go being so sensible all our players should be signed by now and running up and down rivvi with bags of rubble for 8hrs a day.

Madine could serve a couple of short custordial sentences and still play more than Craig Davies did last season.

I don't think we should write off Dervite entirely. He was obviously awful in a back three, but he looked competent enough in a four for me.

Feeney sacrificed his normal game for the team, respect from me for that hopefully he will be given a less defensive role next season, he seems a rare honest bread and butter Pro.
