I've just got to thinking with all this money in energy talk, my current love interest works in the oil industry. I wonder if it's all a front and he's just looking to see if we have some of that in them there hills too. :)

Where to start with this, good grief.

OK, so does his man bag contain small drills and test tubes? And which local peaks has he been ferreting around so far?

Great news for the local community it will create loads of much needed jobs

I don't have any concerns with fracking from a technological point of view. It will be interesting to see how this announcement fits in with Theresa May making noises that she's going to ratify the Paris climate change deal though.

I've ordered the ten gallon hat, solid gold with unicorn antlers and everything.

Very sensible decision.

The eco agitators are apoplectic over on the Guardian.

Yeah, building earthquake proofed houses. :)

Very sensible decision.

It might actually work out as a net benefit towards our C02 emissions. I should hope that's been factored in to any decisions they've made about it.

How many jobs will it create?

It's not like you're employing navvies to find the stuff

How many jobs will it create?

About 14

It's democracy, the people of the area generally don't want it, they get overruled...

Anyhow, cease whining, those fourteen will be buying pies, chippy dinners, engaging hooers, sinking pints, stinking up bed n breakfasts - the wealth will trickle down like a bounteous cocktail of mad chemicals into aquifers and timeless geology.

I've invested in a crossbow.

London-centric Government shitting on local (northern) folk shocker.

Hardly a surprise.

How long before we discover which mps have shares in fracking companies?

Interesting reading; obviously this is one side's opinion.

Still concerns me that they are shoving vast amounts of stuff into the ground that shouldn't be there.

http://www.refracktion.com/index.php/myth-busting/myth-3-fracking-fluids-are-harmless/

It's the levels which make a substance toxic or non toxic. This is the same argument anti vaxxers use against vaccines. Vaccines contain mercury - mercury is poisonous - therefore Vaccines are poisonous. Well vaccines do contain mercury - about the same amount that you get in an apple. I suspect it's the same with fracking. Maybe if you drank a pint of fracking fluid it might not do you much good (even though your stomach is full of hydrochloric acid). But by the time it's returned to the surface - been diluted by the existing groundwater and filtered by the ground it passes through I imagine it'll be in such infentesimally small concentrations as to pose no risk to health. Otherwise they wouldn't be allowed to do it.

And this argument that there might be an accident during transportation? By that rationale we should stop transporting any substance which might be considered hazardous. Petrol, electronics, aerosols, gas.

I've invested in a crossbow.

Eco-friendly sports=based murdering?

I like it.
