Biggish Dave Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 McSorleys - oldest boozer in NYC, real spit and sawdust place 15 E 7th Street. Have you been in the meatpackers district? Some quality boozers there Gallow Green - lower east side, 530 W, 27th Street in between 10th and 11th Ave Quote
Whites man Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Have you been in the meatpackers district? I imagine quite a few on here would have. Quote

Salon De Ning at the Top of The Pinnusula Hotel on 55th and East is a decent one got a view of Central Park ( well a bit of it ) http://m.newyork.peninsula.com/en/fine-dining/salon-de-ning-rooftop-bar Quote
beer_swiller Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Don't look beyond my mates web site. What he doesn't know about bars in NYC it aint worth knowing. please take a look. http://www.ottosrambles.co.uk/new-york-city.php Quote
Salford Trotter Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 (edited) This is an absolute must if you like to be entertained whilst you eat Ellen's Stardust Diner on Broadway a short walk from Time Square Edited September 5, 2015 by Salford Trotter Quote
Con Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 Salon De Ning at the Top of The Pinnusula Hotel on 55th and East is a decent one got a view of Central Park ( well a bit of it ) http://m.newyork.peninsula.com/en/fine-dining/salon-de-ning-rooftop-bar Great there, I can highly recommend. For a different perspective have you thought of heading over to NJ? There are some restaurants in Hoboken with an amazing view of the city. If you are into it there are guided tours of Sopranos locations in Jersey too. Bayonne also has some great views, and beaches if it is nice. Valenca in Elizabeth does an amazing steak. Also if you are going with your Doris, Jersey Gardens Mall is State Tax Free, so some bargains to be had. Do not under any circumstances go near the city of Newark though. Horrible, and quite dangerous at night, particularly around Penn station and Rutgers. Quote
birch-chorley Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 (edited) Just left last week Hilton fashion district has a great rooftop bar, think it's on 26th It has a steak restaurant downstairs that is amazing, good value too, get the 22 oz bone in rib eye Edited September 4, 2015 by birch-chorley Quote
birch-chorley Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 (edited) Other things I would recommend are Yankees game was great fun and only $26 each in the cheap seats Shake shack for the best fast food burger option (few around the City) Walk the high line Spotted pig (Michelin star but reasonably priced) near Chelsea - fantastic blue cheese burger for $20 on the lunch menu served with a huge mound of string fries The new world trade centre is open and the observation deck is amazing Free ferry boat to Staten Island (goes straight past the statue of Liberty) You may have done these if you've been twice but they were our highlights anyroad Edited September 4, 2015 by birch-chorley Quote
superjohnmcginlay Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 Hoboken is a good call Birch. Have a google at some speakeasies too there's loads. They are quite popular now but it's a bit different to the "normal" bars Quote
Guest Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 Went to the Bronx this time. Asked a police officer the way to XYZ and he politely invitedus not to walk. Quote
Marc505 Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 McSorleys - oldest boozer in NYC, real spit and sawdust place 15 E 7th Street. Have you been in the meatpackers district? Some quality boozers there Gallow Green - lower east side, 530 W, 27th Street in between 10th and 11th Ave Stayed in the East Village when I was there and not far from McSorleys is a speakeasy called Please Don't Tell. Its through a phone box at the back of a hot dog place called Crif Dogs. Some decent bars in the adjoining streets too. Also tried a couple of places inspired by Man vs Food in that general area; Katz Delicatessen (of When Harry Met Sally fame) amazing pastrami sandwiches there. And Clinton St. Baking Co. where the pancakes are ace! Quote
