Saul Goodman Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 Those would be the "ridiculous & pricey" demands that SS agreed to last week would they ? What are these "ridiculous & pricey demands " anyway ? £15m if we go back up in the next 5 years,....so not very likely to have to be paid & sod all in comparison to all the money that Mr Davies has written off . They agreed because they are serious about becoming new owners. But Davies has pissed about for months, constantly "moving goalposts". even asking for £3million to look at the books. Quote
Guest GudniB Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 I believe he's blown plenty of money on BWFC I don't for one minute believe he's spent the amount you say. Even if he has he needn't have if he had managed the club even half sensibly. Any how it's looking more likely that the club sale will now go through and it'll be end of ED reign, one which promised so much but due to horrific management and no forward planning has delivered a club virtually doomed to third tier football and already asset stripped thanks for that legacy Eddie. More like the end of a nightmare than the end of a reign. Quote
Mounts Kipper Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 Thanks for the memories ? Just watched that for first time in years, firstly a shiver went up my spine then a tingle at the back of the neck, then a lump in the throat and finally a tear in my eyes. Quote
Guest GudniB Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 Thanks for the memories ? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SoMFNzO1ADg Ah yes. Happy memories for sure, but one of mine was of a Wanderers supporter flying out to Munich to watch his team play in the Allianz Arena complaining that 'the club lacked ambition'. The sense of irony seemed to have quite escaped him. Quote

gonzo Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 So after months to get themselves organised, Holdsworth, his venture capitalist & assorted spivs & chancers still haven't got any money, can't meet a deal that was only agreed last week & are struggling to be considered fit & proper owners by the FL.............but it's all Eddie Davies's fault !!! It looks like ED was dead right to be doubtful about SS, & only sold to them as a last resort. Remind me again what we are in court for on Monday? Quote
Guest GudniB Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 (edited) Remind me again what we are in court for on Monday? £390million paid in wages by Burnden Leisure over the last ten years - most of it to higher rate taxpayers. That's a whole lot of tax paid by a football club (not to mention VAT on the income). You could say that the club's in Court because HMRC wants to put itself at the front of the queue of those due to be paid. You could also say that the club wouldn't have been able to pay the PAYE & VAT for the last seven years without ED's loans. Edited March 4, 2016 by GudniB Quote

It doesn't put them to the front of the queue, it's to ensure it gets paid though. It is liquidation it is after, not administration, HMRC want paying & paying in full. Preferably before Monday, but if not, then it's shut up shop & sell everything off to get paid. Quote
birch-chorley Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 I don't think they would get paid anywhere near 'in full' with administration or liquidation Their best hope of getting paid is a viable take over Quote

I agree that HMRC would not be at the front of the queue if it came to liquidation but they can use the threat of it to get paid. ED seems to be faced with a lousy deal or no deal - not the best place to be! Edited March 4, 2016 by GudniB Quote

birch-chorley Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 I doubt it Mounts - if SS are a No and their are no other potential takeovers in the running I'd guess it's voluntary admin and a sell off of all assets Can't see him paying the tax bill just to carry on losing £1m a month Quote

HMRC are pushing for a winding up order. Voluntary administration can only be done within the first 7 days of the winding up petition, & then, only with the permission of the court. That ship has well & truly sailed. It's pay up or shut down time. Quote
onlyoneawalker Posted March 4, 2016 Author Posted March 4, 2016 Does anybody else think that if ED has pumped the best part of £200,000,000 into the club over the past decade or so - that hoping to recoup £15,000,000 of that in the very unlikely event we ever get back to the Premier League is pretty reasonable? It's pay up or shut down time. At last a voice of reason. The judge at the last hearing pretty much said this. The stay of execution was based on there being a takeover bid having just been accepted. The judge also said the takeover bid HAD to pay the HMRC debt ED will have received advice on his options but won't want the club to fold. If a decent deal could have been struck, it seems to me it would have been struck a few years ago HMRC are not interested in a 10p in the £1 deal. Its the full lot of liquidation. Yes Liquidation puts them behind other creditors (Davies), so they will not get anywhere near what they are owed but they have been after a football club for a while and the publicity alone will make up for it Edited March 4, 2016 by SalfordOriginal Quote

Rembrandt Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 Long past time ED paid his bills in full and stopped trying to pass them to someone else while risking the club's existence. Quote
