I was in Istanbul airport at exactly the same time as her. I have also been to Israel. Make of that what you will.

if you were going to kill her, why do it in the airport?

Hanging is all a bit messy though. I thought better of you, Maggie.

Ataturk airport police are rude cunts, I'm surprised those work shy fuckers even reported it.

It's not really foreskii that they're interested in. But any Arabic or similar stamps in your passport and it's on like donkey kong. I had an hour on the subject of my Afghan visas, that was after I'd given them my embassy ID to illustrate my story. Then they were happy about that and we got another quarter of an hour about my stamps from Morocco. Morocco!! Can't be too careful I suppose. A girl I know turned up in Tel Aviv a year after three weeks backpacking in Iran. Took her seven hours to get in. Flying out to Istanbul mind you the security wench told me that 'I am going to send you to my supervisor as I am worried that someone might be using you to smuggle explosives onto the flight.'

Great country though, you should go.

do you need a special passport for Israel

Nope, but  a lot of Muslim countries will turn you back if you've got a stamp but nowadays the Israelis give you a coupon that you give back when you leave.  I have got two passports though and it is mega handy if you travel a lot.

Bloody hell kent, do you actively look for this stuff?

No - it cropped up in an article I was reading. I do watch quite a lot of conspiracy type fayre though. It's inevitably bullshit but I find some of them quite entertaining.

What on earth possesses these people to start looking for shit like that. Still it is quite fascinating

It's crazy nowadays.  Within hours of an event happening there will be videos online showing how it was a 'false flag' or an 'illuminati message'.

My sister in laws brother is quite a level headed businessman or so I thought, good fella part from being a Munich but a big England fan so that makes it up a bit. Anyhow this last 2 years he has gone bonkers and really believes this shit especially the illuminati. Stopped his 16 year daughter from putting up pictures of One Direction in her room because they are implicated. Fucking crackers!

It's a bit like religion. It sucks you in and you end up tailoring the way you perceive information so that it fits in with what you believe. I got into it all in quite a big way when I was in my early 20's. I'd argue that 9/11 was an inside job with anybody who would listen. At least some of that is/was semi plausible at first glance. Ended up listening to people like Alex Jones and considering going picketing the Bilderberg conference and all sorts. Seems crazy looking back :-)

Seems odd looking back at it now - but it's given me a better understanding about the way in which people can get swayed by this sort of manipulation. Have a look at some of these sites and they're dangerous. They exist in an echo chamber. Anything contradicting the narrative is immediately dismissed. It's like a whole cottage industry now - a proper subculture. Gradually over time the claims they were making became more and more bizarre, first it was chemtrails - then it was HAARP and so on and so forth. Predictions would be made and then excuses given when they didn't come to pass. Over time I grew to learn that scientists had better answers than conspiracy theorists - and my worldview changed.

I watch them for entertainment nowadays - and to keep abreast of the latest bollocks which is being spouted.

The world can be a pretty ugly and chaotic place and people are desperate for an answer to explain it. The illuminti is a good catchall that you can blame everything on!

Have you seen all this bohemian grove stuff Kent?

Yeah - it's weird. All that 'cremation of care' ritual. There's no doubt that there's some strange folk about. It's just about whether they're secretly running the world or not

Maybe coincidence, but although this guy is level headed and hisbusiness has a strong science base, he is a very strong practicing Catholic. Perhaps the Dan Brown books triggered a switch?

I used to listen to a podcast called Red Ice Radio by a Swedish guy called Henrick Palmgren. He was into his conspiracy type stuff and used to have some interesting guests on. Now all he and his guests talk about is this 'white genocide' 'cultural marxism' type stuff. All very popular fayre amongst conspiracy theories nowadays.

I deal with a bloke who is an e- safety expert for the department of education

He was telling me that the biggest threat to security in the UK now, based on everything they see in the darker parts of the web and what they can pick up from "the kids" isn't, as I expected, your Islamic mentalists (still a threat, mind), but is a huge groundswell of support for the far right.

There are more swastikas being filtered out of firewalls than anything else, and it's a growing problem.
