November 9, 20169 yr Name them. I think you are confusing muslim nations with India which is majority Hindu. http://www.juancole.com/2014/03/muslims-publics-leaders.html
November 10, 20169 yr http://www.juancole.com/2014/03/muslims-publics-leaders.html Looking at that that list would suggest that trait seemed to end just after 9/11.
November 10, 20169 yr Looking at that that list would suggest that trait seemed to end just after 9/11. Eh? Apart from the 6 who were in office after 2001 you mean?
November 10, 20169 yr The hysteria from the young left wing is always amusing. Haven't lived; no life experience; need to learn to give things a little time rather than predicting the end of the world at the least fucking thing. He won't be in office until the 20th January next year FFS. Like MK, I am prepared to give The Donald some time and my gut feeling is that he will turn out to be good for the US and possibly get a second term. Had to listen to Bonnie Greer on Sky UK News this morning. Her after listening to Corbyns diatribe got my bowel moving. I wish the contents could have been aimed at those two. On another note, from years of postings on here, I have developed a belief that Leythers have a mortgage on common sense. Then Leigh White pops up with his anti Maggie rants and proves me wrong. Great lad though The best Prime Minister I have lived under.

November 10, 20169 yr Well at least that's not a Trump-esque pompous, arrogant statement Correct. Well spotted.
November 10, 20169 yr Don't like losing these lefties and liberals bleating all over the USA.Because if and when, say, we have a watered down Brexit you'll concede with good grace and pipe down? Or you'd accept a Prime Minister Corbyn without voicing protest? Anyhow, in many ways Trump isn't even that right-wing, the more swivel-eyed of the loons among his acolytes are in for disappointment I reckon'. And as for bad losers, there's bad winners an' all. On the eve of our referendum I was genuinely undecided - could see disadvantages and merits in both arguments. Since then, however, the triumphalist and unpleasant crowing coupled with the clear aimlessness and lack of planning of 'leave' (and government) has made me finally wish we'd preserved the status quo. November 10, 20169 yr Because if and when, say, we have a watered down Brexit you'll concede with good grace and pipe down? I think Mounts still believes that we won't be watering anything down
November 10, 20169 yr I'm sure they'll stick to their well thought out Brexit means Brexit poker game strategy, but say they don't, I'm sure Mounts will concede with quiet dignity.
November 10, 20169 yr There was a writer from the Washington Post on Newsnight last night. She was saying that Europe needs to wake up to the reality of what Trump means for the continent. That the only message he's been clear about since he started writing on politics is his disdain for NATO - and that now is the time to begin thinking seriously about a European army. Tt In contrast to a point I made a couple of days ago regarding Trump wanting to do business with a UK outside of the EU she said forget about it. He's not an anglophile. He has no ties here. The 'special relationship' is meaningless to him.

I'm not sure why anyone will expect a free trade deal with the US, he's talking about fucking trade deals off not making them, he wants the US to buy homemade goods not British
November 10, 20169 yr I'm not sure why anyone will expect a free trade deal with the US, he's talking about fucking trade deals off not making them, he wants the US to buy homemade goods not British This is how I understand it, he seems to want tariffs in place, in order to protect US manufacturing, if that is the case (and it actually happens) then he wouldn't be wanting free trade with the UK (or anybody else for that matter) There are some interesting times ahead, when he eventually takes office, to see what he does and/or doesn't follow through with I'm especially looking forward to him trying to ban all Muslims from entering the country, just to see how than pans out

November 10, 20169 yr The left, in the form of Tony Blair, made a mockery of the special relationship by illegally invading Iraq. Special 'lapdogs' is more accurate. When Donald is cosying up to Putin we will be out on a limb. We won't even have much support from Germany or France. Still, no doubt Nigel Farage will be leading from the front - front lounge of the Red Lion!
November 10, 20169 yr Dunno about that, looked very clement where he was interviewed yesterday for comment on Trump. Some marina somewhere, Le Lion Rouge perhaps?

The 'special relationship' is meaningless to him. I wonder if the BBC will eventually get round to a semblance of balance by having someone on who either knows Trump, or even supports him. I am not generally for BBC-bashing, but it's been pisspoor since it was evident he was going to win. Newsnight even played The Fool On The Hill by The Beatles to open one piece about him. Pathetic. An entire panel prattled on about his foreign policy for about half an hour and not one of them knew him or had ever had to deal with him, let alone support him. Paul Merton made a joke about shooting him on Have I Got News For You and the crowd loved it. Had he said the same about Osama bin Laden he'd have been pilloried.

Sky news showed a projection of the whole this would put in the US budget over the course of the presidential term and it was eye watering leading to huge increases in borrowing Then if they put up tariffs on Chinese imports to drive domestic manufacturing then China will do the same in reverse hitting both countries hard in terms of exports and jobs The thing is though the Chinese currently own the lions share of US debt, if they enter a trade war with China then who are they going to get to step in and and buy the bonds to a ) recycle the current debt b ) make the huge loans required for the tax cuts and infrastructure spending I honestly can't see how he will land any of it, considering he is the most unfavourable president to ever go into the White House I dred to think what his unfavourables will be on the way out Edited November 10, 20169 yr by birch-chorley
