What's more, there has been a lot of activity here in American bases, with apparently nuclear weapons being brought back. 

Despite what we're seeing at the moment, quietly, there seems to be a ramping up of NATO based security around the place.

Also, B-1B bombers have been moved from their home base in America, pending runway works, with some sent to other basis in America, and also Guam.

Have a read back through these threads, many were saying it’s all about Trump, money, minerals etc and that no land should be given to Russia, which most sane people admit is the the only chance on peace. If no deal is signed (I’m still hopeful there will be) then it’s back to square 1 without (possibly) the backing of America

Hardly guaranteed, given the even more spending we'll all have put into defence, beyond what we need to now.

An emboldened Putin, on an expansionist march is certainly not to be left to succeed, and highly likely to try to continue. That would cost us far more, including in lives.

Whereas a successful outcome for Ukraine will demonstrate a collective "no" from the west.

This really isn't a case of chucking millions at a country; it's spending now and helping an ally to help and protect ourselves.

Can’t stand Trump but definitely not happy. Tragic that it went pear shape this afternoon. Not sure where we go now.  Will US pull their military support - game changer if they do as EU not ready/able to fill the gap. Putin must be laughing his head off.

I do wonder whether Vance/Trump actually went in spoiling for a public spat in the Oval Office.  Zelensky is quite rightly a proud man doing his best to lead his nation through an unprovoked war, and in effect Trump/Vance asked him to beg/grovel in public for their support whilst perpetuating their lies at every opportunity. Why? Then there’s the nonsense in Trumpys “Truth” Social post - what a pathetic sad little man. The world should tell him to do one and rally round Ukraine 🖕.

There's not a single person on here who wouldn't take a realistic peace deal if there was one on the table an Ukraine were happy with it. 

Put yourself in Zelensky's shoes. Would you have signed a deal without any security guarantees? I know I woundn't.
