Sad to hear Gorilla and Deaf institute both announced permanently closing. Both great venues, particularly enjoyed Deaf institute though. Had some great nights there, seeing caribou there on release of his first album is up there with my favourite gigs.

Surprised at Gorilla closing.

I thought that they were busy most days.

Good for breakfast too. ☹️

I assume the bar may still be viable but the live music venue, entrance under the tunnel opposite the ritz (although I'm sure I've exited the venue through the bar when drunk.), is to shut.

Just thinking actually, the last time I was in Gorilla was for Andy Weatherall. In the small hours after a couple dids, who knows which exit I used 😳

Before you were born, sonny  :)

Maybe not, but nearly

they did officially form a year before I was born (or a few years if you include when they played together at school)

never listened to anything by them though, or The Boys Next Door

Kings of Leon best band to come out of America since Nirvana.

Fight me.

First album ace, still played regular now

Second very good, saw them at apollo

Third decent enough, saw them at Manchester Central

Fourth starts well but after the 3rd track they turn into radio rock, saw them at the arena, lots of confused faces when they played anything pre sex on fire

Not listened to owt since to pass an opinion

Fair few other bands on a par with them like Queens and Foos

Hard to name another one that would rank alongside nirvana for influence

Their best days are when they had long hair and did coke, but just watched a live gig from 2009 at reading which I was at and they’re brilliant live

That Holts' stout you've discovered must be fucking strong 😀

I’m not a fan of a lot of American bands

The Doors

Jefferson Airplane

Nirvana

Stooges

Jimi Hendrix

QOTSA

Foo Fighters to a degree

The rest can bite my bollocks
