We've just won promotion using a gaggle of players nobody else wanted, littered with injury plagued loanees and players that were cast as cart horses, one trick ponies and generally weak as piss.

  • Like when we went up from league 2, we needed tried and tested players from that specific division/level to deal with the task in hand. Doyle and Sarcs etc. We need exactly the same in this divis

My late dad would sworn blind the answer to your first point was Bobby Langton.

The history books might suggest Ted Vizard.

Opportunity for a whole new thread here. 😀

Lad gets a lot of stick. He doesn’t need to be a world beater.

He needs to be able to beat a man on occasion and be able to consistently put good balls in to the box. There's no point signing Dalby if we aren't going to provide the service he needs. He doesn't need to be a world beater but he needs to be able to do these things in order to be playing regularly. He hasn't IMO shown that he has what it takes to be up to standard.

I also think this applies to Desmond. He is good at beating a man but he hasn't proven he can consistently get good balls in the box.

IMO we need at the very least another winger but I would like two more.

Tutu beats a man and loses it. Luckily for him he has a big Willy so the easy lower faithful love him.

I think we had two wingers who had little support in the center. Fresh start for them.

Yes, my thoughts too.

Of course SS may still decide he wants different ones, but with genuine centre forward types, looking to attack balls played in fairly quickly, they may not need to be worldies every time, but ones into a good area for forwards to attack.

I’ve watched some great wingers play for us including Freddie, Fat Gordon, the Postman and that City reject but none were as consistently good as Diddy who beat his man and put it right where the defenders didn’t want it.
TBF Freddie was technically an inside forward but he played wide plenty.

We still have a big ground and great fan base, but we are kidding ourselves to consider ourselves a big club now.

We are the biggest club in this division however you want to spin it.

History, gates, ground and dosh.

We fill every away ground and have unbelievable home attendances.

The fact we've been down here so long is a disgrace really. This way, way below our natural level.

Every club in the land finds that again sooner or later.

Here’s hoping Schuey can deliver.

I remember years ago being 2-0 at home at half time to Fulham in the prem and some arsehole was whinging about the football being ‘boring’. 😂

We were 14th on wage bill for midfielders last season and 9th for strikers. We are the biggest in lg1 but we haven't had a fair slice of dosh for ages, and thats because of bad decisions at board level 15 yrs ago.

May be we have had to many players that once they have signed new it wouldn’t get any better and are coasting  . Dapo was one that showed some ambition to move up a level bringing younger players in and through might help

9th on strikers ? You sure Charles was on a good screw and Collins . Mctee signed for a million so you would think on a good wage .victor would be on more than he is worth  We’re is this list ?

To put things in perspective. It took Sheffield United almost six years to get out of this league, it is not impossible this year but difficult, hopefully he can build a similar side to Plymouth and get us out as quickly as possible. Signings thus far are very encouraging, obviously we need more and I think there will be.

I disagree lusty. When you look into other teams fan sites at this level, as you do more than most I think, they almost all consider us to be one of the big fish so I sometimes don’t think we give ourselves enough credit. Obviously we’re no mega club but we are still an attractive proposition. None of our local Championship rivals get the gates we do or the number of season ticket holders despite being higher up which is why it’s essential that we do whatever we need to do to get us out of here and back at the minimum level a club of our standing deserves. It’s as if some of our fans feel embarrassed to admit we are a sizeable club.

Only Sheehan left at the club now over 30 and he has only recently turned 30.....Schumacher is putting building blocks in

I for one am encouraged at the re-build but the downside i do not see promotion next season

I think people are sometimes reading much too much into things at what is still an early stage

Where were we on the list for mincing sock down 10's?

Mcatee gets given a tough time and rightly so but Schon didn’t cost that much less and was given a free ride for most of last season.

If we start this season with Schon as our first choice winger It’ll be pretty depressing.

Since promotion from league 2, and FV getting further investment from the Swiss, I think we've had a fair chunk to spend.

Not massive, and they won't spend what we can't afford to miss, but far better now than when we were on our way down.
