We've just won promotion using a gaggle of players nobody else wanted, littered with injury plagued loanees and players that were cast as cart horses, one trick ponies and generally weak as piss.

  • Like when we went up from league 2, we needed tried and tested players from that specific division/level to deal with the task in hand. Doyle and Sarcs etc. We need exactly the same in this divis

Wish him luck but we move on.

While I'm ok with Collins being transferred for £800k the fact we spent more than that on each of McAtee and Randall beggars belief

Has that figure been announced?

Yep, in the BEN.

"The Bolton News understands that Wanderers have recouped exactly the amount paid to Bristol Rovers in January 2024, which was a reported £800,000"

Nice one.

SS wanted him gone 100%.

Seems that way.

Not much of a glowing thank you.

Maybe they didn't see eye to eye neither.

Anyway, who's next?

Hoping these are rolled into a proper no 11 and no 7, either a free or a good loan. These guys are key to turning the support the new core of the team gives us into goals.

Both Tutu and Schön have something to offer but i think we need atleast 1 player up there with some real class and experience. I understand Collins was on good wages so there's probably a little room.

Two footed left and right wingers, 1 with lots of pace that can shoot and the other with a bit of pace, lots of strength who can put in good crosses. Having them switch randomly will cause chaos at this level.

I reckon Randall will come good this season. I still think there's a player in there. We've not seen the best of him - but he didn't join at the easiest of times.

I don’t know why, very little to back it up and completely contradictory to my view on McAtee, but I’ve just got a feeling that Randall could come good.

Playing as a 10, in the middle of the 3 in a 4231, with genuine wingers and a proper midfield behind him, I just think there’s something in him to prove us all wrong so far.

(Cue him being sold next week).

Randall clearly has some ability, but so far, he's seemed no different to Collins in the bollocks stakes.

He's still got a decent length of contract though, so shifting him might be difficult, even if SS wants to.

We still have a lot of midfielders though, and I can't see squad room for so many that may be regarded as flair types.

I think we still need two full backs, two wingers, a CM and most of all a goalscorer.

Hoping Sheehan, Mcatee and Johnston follow him out the door

Randall looked like a broken man with us. He’s on the list for out for me. Backed him loads at the games last season. I’d be amazed if he’s still here by end of August

Surely they’ll have a replacement on the cards, if Dalbys shit (likely) we’re fucked as it stands as we all know Mcatee can’t play there

If we are going with wingers we need better than Tutu and Schon.

There was a game last season where Schon put a worldy of a cross in, along the deck that McAtee strolled onto, didn't break stride, and thundertwatted it into the net.

I don't see him as a dribbler type, but if he has guys in the middle to target with early crosses, then he may be useful. Not convinced the fannying around with it game suits him.

If Desmond could be fit for long enough, and up his consistency, then again, he would be more than useful.

The header he scored against Crawley involved leaping like a gazelle.

Both with contracts too.

Not sure SS/club can move all of these players on, not straight away at least, so one or two are likely to have the chance to prove themselves at the start.

You have to be fair to Randall he was playing in a team that was clearly structurally broken and he was moved to CM, where he was ineffective as any reasonable person would expect.

No excuse for not putting a foot in etc, which he was guilty of at times- like some others.

Id like to think he's shifting on the weak fuckers mate.

Seems he sussed them early and went to work.

Collins only got 4 in 18 under ss !

I think SS will be after and get two wide men of the type he really wants. Tutu might offer something as an impact sub when games are stretched, not sure where it leaves Schon. I don't mind him but he's not a good enough defender to fight for a left back spot and not a good enough left winger either

He's about 5'7-5'8 and about 9-10 stone. Why would you expect him to put a foot in? That isnt his role he's a creative player, he'd just get himself injured.

I think Huddersfield will go down in 3 years. The bloke is a clown who is in charge.

Fingers crossed

We do need another backup in the Dalby mould as knowing our luck, he'll get a season ending injury warning up in the first game and we have no "plan b" to play in his place for the new style of football

Of all the sock down mincers he was the one most worth keeping. Fully understand the reasons for selling and I wish the lad well.

He doesn't strike me as Paul Warne's type of player so will be interested to see how it pans out.

That was my thought too, if you're Paul Warne with a shed load of cash to spend in L2, you'd think he'd go for a different type of which there are plenty.  But MK will probably romp to promotion so Collins will be part of that and it will be a good signing - it might be a different story when they are back in L1 and his weakness is more exposed.

FWIW I wouldn't be in the camp saying "he's moved to L2, he's no ambition" - if your manager wants you to move on, you tend to move on.  It feels like he didn't have much choice, he's probably just as surprised as us that he finds himself in L2 for a year.  Being a footballer is a strange business, one minute you're settled in an area, the next you're moving to a wierd no-mark place like Milton Keynes!
