I agree, he would probably do better at a higher level ironically.

If BWFC put an advert in the paper shop window at Daubhill station saying Sheehan for sale or P/X for a Raleigh chopper i don't think they would get many calls, however

If they put " headless chicken available free but must collect" i think some takeaway might be interested.

Just opinions but I'd expect Champ clubs to be looking for better.  In L1 we can give him a lot of responsibility as chief playmaker.  If I was a Champ club I'd expect to be giving that role to someone with much more physicality and consistency; he has a tendency to disappear in the tougher games especially away, which would be most games in the champ.

Broadly agree. Champ clubs need higher levels than we do but they can also afford to take risks / invest on players that will be good squad and bench players. If Sheehan is happy to play that role (I don't think he would be), then it's not beyond the realms for mid to lower Champ clubs to take a punt on him (similar to Baxter and Santos).

Reading between the lines, I think he is certainly one the club will listen to offers for, and Cardiff might be a logical destination (both in terms of location and the type of football BBM will want to play). Whether selling to a very likely promotion rival makes sense is another question.

Yes I can see the logic of him going to Cardiff, being Welsh and all that and having a "footballing" manager, I just don't see him playing higher at this stage of his career unless the club he's with goes up.

Regarding taking a punt on players, there is still the limit on registered players over 21.  If they spend money on a 30 year old that club is expecting him to be involved, that's no different to us signing someone for £200k.  Its not like signing a 20 year old with potential (eg the Salford lad).  I don't think keepers count (hence, Baxter) but I'd expect Santos to be playing more games than he misses at Swansea.

Yet he Excels playing for Wales against better opposition with better players around him, i do not know where he fits in with Schumacher thinking........I like him as a player but i could understand if he got moved on.

You said you would expect to get better, but who would you get for that money

Will know more before August

I think the problem with Sheehan is where Evatt was playing him, that is mainly as a defensive midfielder, IMHO he seems more of a number 10 than any of the expensive dross Evatt signed.

Correct and i think Schumacher has worked that out The new lad Simonns and Morley who Excelled in that position for Wycombe are much better than Sheehan in that position....Especially if we are not playing out all the time from the back

I genuinely can't see him being given another contract by SS, nor being a guaranteed starter this season

I could see him being sold, for a small amount to make space, or equally just being a member of the first team squad and being happy to pick from more options next year.

Sheehan easily neutralised, can't see him in a championship team

I'm sure he played the deeper role for Newport County as well before we signed him

Funny how good Collins and Southwood were under Jules.

You are probably right, but his little turns and passes in front of our defence seem to be of little value and flatter to deceive. Further up the pitch is a different matter.

Sheehan showed, on the very rare (once I can recall v Derby at home) occasion Evatt let him play higher up he can cause a lot of problems around the edge of an opponents box. He'd be likely to win free kicks in dangerous areas, can score them and generally link up with others in tight areas.

If Evatt could have seen it and given him a ho there more often he wouldn't have tossed £1m after Randall

His little turns & passes in front of our defence were football suicide for the last season and a half, total waste of a squad place, the poor mans Warren Joyce .

And that's bones of yer arse poor.

They all were, though.

Even Lolos had a good game at Huddersfield.

Don't take this as I have a downer on Sheehan, I don't at all, I like him, its just chat about his level and his "value".  But re his games for Wales, genuine question, how many games has he started for Wales and of those how many were against teams that are at or above Championship level?  I wonder if there's a perception that he's great for Wales, because he's been involved in a couple of wins against lower level opposition?  I'm only guessing because I've never seen him kick a ball for Wales, but most Bolton fans probably haven't.  If Morley or Randall were Welsh would they be in the Welsh squad?  The bottom line is he plays in L1 and virtually every time we play a Pompey or Derby or Plymouth he doesn't look like one of the better players, he gets a bit lost in the physicality and pace of the game.

to compare Sheehan to Warren Joyce is astonishing. Joyce was a better cricketer than a footballer and he wasn't great at that. Sheehan is an international footballer ffs

Get that tongue out yer cheek or its gonna stick!!

Sheehan never plays as a number 10 for Wales. He’s always sat just in front of the defence.

Different style of football though opposition tend to sit back more so international football gives him more time

. Evatt ball opposition realised if we were pressed we were in trouble because we would continue with it then Sheehan like the rest would end up giving the ball away

Give over man jesus wept

Sheehan is another player that I'm not arsed if he goes, he's been a good player for us, however, I'm not sure SS will be playing him much if he stays with us, a fresh challenge is probably best for Sheehan and I don't think we'd get much for him, considering he's 30 now.
