We've just won promotion using a gaggle of players nobody else wanted, littered with injury plagued loanees and players that were cast as cart horses, one trick ponies and generally weak as piss.

  • Like when we went up from league 2, we needed tried and tested players from that specific division/level to deal with the task in hand. Doyle and Sarcs etc. We need exactly the same in this divis

The week that started with several statements about the intent to be busy in the transfer market has ended with a whimper. So everyone is working on it and we’ve had a few knock backs but I hope we don’t settle for third or fourth choice targets and that the net is cast wider. Somewhere out there are the players to transform our team.

Exactly as I demonstrated a few posts back there are loads of decent players out there many of which are going to be free agents in 3/4 days. Flashing the cash, £500k here, and there on players with no experience, i don't care how many games you've had in League 2 or the Shamrock league, it's near meaningless. League 1 is a decent step up on its own, and that's without considering the teams we're competing against are full of either Championship or top league 1 talent.

Hopefully much of the noise has been teams trying to drum up interest in a player they want gone as the talent we've signed so far is very promising.

You say the players we’ve signed so far are promising Zog and I hope you’re right but I just have this underwhelmed feeling at the moment that none of them have actually played significantly or successfully at the level they will this season when our objective is to move up another level yet. Even the two we’re most recently linked with from Salford and Celtic are unproven and whilst they might show enormous potential they are still huge risks and not the experienced well travelled heads we might have expected. Of course there’s time yet we’re still early in the window and contracts don’t run out for another few days but I hope we’re not using all our resources on potential rather than a couple of been there and done it players to solidify the team. Experience of higher levels and better still promotions within the team is invaluable if we’re to reach our goal.

Well, tbh 63, you've been plucking names left, right & centre all week & none of them have pedigrees.

I bet it's been a long week on your house

Relax, plenty time yet

Remember last season's " Been there, done that" signing? Arfield, omg he was awful.

We've already been busy for God's sake.

A statement said there may be more movement this week, which hasn't happened, though how that represents a "whimper" I've no idea.

One player had a bid turned turned down, but we don't know what will happen over the days with that.

In the end, if we have to look elsewhere, then so be it- if a player is ultimately beyond us in terms if cost, then it shows how high we're looking. A different player (3rd or 4th choice) may be perfectly capable and good enough for what we need.

No one knows the size of the net they're using neither.

You do have a tendency towards the negative!

Does anyone have Sharon's home address?

I think this needs some kind of protest.

Maybe tomorrow morning?

What do we want? Signings.

When do want them? Now.

What knock backs have we had ?

I think I'll give Fergal, Jimmy Jimmy and SS a bit more time to show they know what they're playing at before getting too exercised about it all. See what we've ended up with by the time the window 'slams shut'. All about controlling what we can control, we can't do anything about what Hudds, Blackpool or whoever are doing.

Salford and Celtic so far in terms of bits rejected

Roughan choose Huddersfield over us

Dunno how in the mix we were for Ledson but he chose Huddersfield too

Reckon Huddersfield will be up there next season

I was well happy when we signed him. Thought he'd be a really important player. Crap.

Not sure I have Dr. but since there’s been something of a vacuum regarding both ins and outs it’s surely our job on a site like this to fill it? Hopefully we’ll start to hear more on activity next week but I have absolute faith in Schu and Fergal to get the best they can for a big promotion push next season.

To be fair to the guy he wasn’t properly fit, came into a caustic environment and brought with him huge pressure to perform. His performances weren’t good but when you look at his history he’d been a quality player and maybe our expectations were too high. He wasn’t crap just thrown into a situation he shouldn’t have.

Unbelievable how many people are throwing the towel in. Pre season training started Tuesday 😂

From the sounds of it, seemed like it was all geared for when we get to the championship where there’s not many restrictions on foreign players compared to only having two slots in League One. The problem is bloody getting there, that data scouting for foreign leagues is rather pointless if we’re going to be stuck in here for the next half of decade like a few big clubs have been over the last decade. The ownership may be good business people but don’t really have a clue about football, hopefully they’ve finally found the people to get us being efficient with our resources

First two could still happen, and we don't know exactly what is been offered etc- only reports.

We don't know what was offered to Roughan- if anything- as again they were just reports.

Nothing official from the club on any of them.

I think we are looking in a tight pool of players, we want a tall 6 foot plus forward that gets 15 goals a season for around £500,000 and good footed 6 foot defenders for the same price so it's going to take time, we also seem to be looking at players in thier early 20s, plenty of time yet to get things right we just have to be patient 🙏

I'd rather they take time and buy right, than IE's panicking purchases.

Think this was always coming with us increasing the scouting team.

We continue to evolve and change.
