We've just won promotion using a gaggle of players nobody else wanted, littered with injury plagued loanees and players that were cast as cart horses, one trick ponies and generally weak as piss.

  • Like when we went up from league 2, we needed tried and tested players from that specific division/level to deal with the task in hand. Doyle and Sarcs etc. We need exactly the same in this divis

First two could still happen, and we don't know exactly what is been offered etc- only reports.

We don't know what was offered to Roughan- if anything- as again they were just reports.

Nothing official from the club on any of them.

There's nothing official on any of them because the club don't comment on such things

Going off reports those were the knock backs we've had

The only thing the club will be official on is actual signings

Like nothing as official was said until the Collins deal was complete, but we all knew well before he was off, because of the the reports

Hopefully we'll go back with improved offers for the players we want

We haven't really took our time though, quite the opposite, 5 signings before the squad returned for training along with other bids put in

Exactly: that's what I said.

Only reports.

As for Collins, we didn't know for sure he was going, but it seemed likely.

Rumours and reports don't mean much until its official.

We were praising Evatt for getting deals done quickly.

Not sure they were panic buys neither, but not ones to broaden the scope of playing style.

Aye Evatt only panicked in Jan with Randall and Etete.

The damage was done in the summer signing McAtee, Matete and Scot Arfield and changing our whole system to a 5-1-1-2-1

Arfield

Fucking hell I forgot about that

Knock backs are never made official though, in terms of club statements

That was my point

But I'm sure we've bid for the Salford and Celtic lad and been rejected

And I heard from a reliable source Roughan had talks

So in answer to the original question, I believe those are the knock backs we've had

If you don't fair enough

Surely knock backs are all part of the game? Some you win some you lose for a multitude of different reasons?

Some folk just like to get their knickers in a twist.

Based on their new scouting methodology perhaps they've been waiting for trials for potential free agents or pre season matches for contracted players so that they can see them "live".

I think now preseason has started you'll start to see some movement.

I am a little worried by the bids we've seemingly had rejected because they're for players that i think on the face of it that we can do better than. What's more worrying is that if we're being rejected for our first choices, how bang average are the second and third choices. ps before you say it I'm aware we're in League One, but these two 500k signings we're being linked with only have experience in League Two and the Shamrock league, that's miles away from even a lower end League One team level.

Systems are a separate conversation, but Arfield started next to no league games so he was an irrelevance in that respect.

A bad season would have been even worse if IE hadn't got Matete, IMO. Pound for Pound one of IEs better signings and we'll do well to get better for no fee.

Know you've been consistent with your view on Matete, fair play, underwhelming for me really, not terrible but nothing he was particularly good at either IMO.

We only bid what we can afford right?

So if other clubs have more spending power than us then that’s the way it is.

Fifth tier, they got back to the National League last season, but agree he isn’t going to make it here by the looks although only 20.

Wouldn’t they have just moved him permanently if they didn’t believe he had any future here? Hopefully there’ll soon be news of more moving out and from the first not the B team.

According to Nixon, Celtic want 1 million for Kenny.

Know nothing about him apart from his Wiki page, but if we want him and Nixon is right (I know)  it suggests there’s a deal to be done presumably with a sell on clause.

Randall wasnt a panic buy. We had been after him the previous window.

Scottish Sun running the same story at £1m.

This is where sell-on clauses kick-in. Based on what we’ve seen £500k is a fair price, but if he turns out to be a superstar, you can have 10% of any profit. Sell for £5m and Celtic get their full £1m.

It may also depend on the player - if he fancies the massive step up from a team at the top of the Scottish Leagues to League One he can maybe apply some internal pressure 👍
