Don't think it's a surprise but we've just spent the past 3 days wanking over eachother in a massive footballing orgy and now every cunts off :D

As long as we keep 3 for a oner I don't really care who goes :D

Johnston, Dempsey and JOT have been decent for us but with CMG and Schon also gone there is a big clearout of Evatt era players here. Wonder how  many of these will wash up at Gloomfield Rd?

This is going to be as exciting a summer as we have had in recent history and last summer wasn't too bad to be fair.

I might be in the minority on here, but I'm not that bothered about Tutu going, he's been impressive at times this season, but he's not been a stand out performer consistently, he's been great in the last couple of games, but does he really deserve another contract at a much higher level? Nah not imo.

Agreed

The Tutu one might have come from Tutu himself maybe he found a club closer to his families home in London. You can't force people to sign contracts.

Yeah think this could be very likely, gutted , he’s a decent footballer, but if his family live down south then the pull of moving back may have been too much. Last year the rumour was that sheehen wanted a move back to south wales.

He did, but as long as both parties agree, you can terminate a contract. We may have reached a settlement, or he may have just asked that we cancel his contract to get a move to wherever this new club is.

You don’t have to get a fee, just because someone is under contract. And I think it’s likely to be the case here. Or it’s a very, very small fee and we’re happy to have him off the books

Yeah fair enough , good point.

Certainly add RR ....Firinho is the best defender at the club by a country mile not sure SS thinks that, and Simons and EE can be improved on

Centre mid is an interesting one. I think any of the 4 going would be a shock but then it doesn’t leave you much space to improve it.

RR - only just come in, looks like he could make the step up quality wise

Erhahon - paid a decent fee and only been with us a season. I think he might struggle but still think it would be a surprise to see him go.

Simons - again, only with us a season. Clearly has something. Young enough to improve but not shown enough this season to be good enough without that improvement for the Champ.

Sheehan - new contract last season, heartbeat of the team through L1. Would be very surprised to see him go.

If none of them go then there’s only really space for 1 to replace Dempsey, but I think he’ll want more so I reckon we’ll see a surprise or two. Maybe a Simons loan to a top end L1 team to free up another spot?

Looking at that retained list it is piss poor would not keep us in lge2 at present SS/Harkin have a busy Summer

Schon's got a permanent transfer to the club he was on loan to

You DO know it's probable they've lined a good few up already don't you ?

The more i look into this David Watson the more and more he looks like a replacement for Sheehan. Could Sheehan be going back to South Wales? not impossible i guess. It would fit our business model if we were to move him on now he's past 30 with no Championship experience, he might be seen as a taking a space a future asset could use, by the management, who knows. We do have a ruthless streak, if it's not via his choice.

Not convinced at all he will stick with the same system he has used most of last season in which case i can see a couple of  quality midfielders brought in. Think we are close to bringing one who will compete with RR for the ten.

Randal may as well get onto his agent...Loaning a few out is another option

Today's date on that, problem solved. Wonder how much dosh we got? Evatt wedged out a very decent six figure fee for him from memory.

Bolton Wanderers stand to break roughly even or absorb a very minor financial loss if Győri ETO FC triggers the permanent purchase option for Szabolcs Schön.

What Bolton Paid vs. What They Can Recoup

The Original Purchase Price (2024): Bolton signed Schön from Hungarian side Fehérvár FC for a reported fee of £700,000 to £800,000 (€900,000 equivalent) on a three-year contract.

The Recoup Amount (2026): The mandatory or optional release clause negotiated into his loan with Győr sits at roughly €500,000 to €600,000 (roughly £420,000 to £500,000).

The Financial Deficit: On paper, Bolton will fall roughly £200,000 to £280,000 short of the baseline transfer fee they originally shelled out to purchase him.

Why Bolton Considers This a "Win "While a minor transfer loss is expected, the deal represents a net positive for Bolton's backroom finances for two critical reasons:

Amortised Value: By the time this permanent deal goes through, Schön will have completed two years of his three-year contract (one year active at Bolton, one year out on loan). His remaining book value to the club has dropped significantly, meaning a sale at this price prevents an outright financial loss on the club's balance sheets.

Wage Bill Relief: Győr took on a significant portion—if not the entirety—of Schön's EFL salary during his season-long loan spell. Offloading his contract until 2027 frees up valuable breathing room on the wage bill to help fund incoming Championship signings.

Wish the released players well. Sign for Blackpool then I feel sad for them. Beneath us being upset by them orange coastal homos now

Maybe SS saw that in order to make the defence solid as it has been in the last few games, other players were having to sacrifice to track back, which is why the defence improved once EE and XS come back from injury. This was perhaps  compromising his tactical vision, due to not having full backs on the right and left. Meaning ACD was dropping deeper to cover Tutu, IDK.

If this is true i expect Conway to either move onto the wing or midfield, or go out on loan.

A replacement for Sheehan, really?

I'm no expert but I've had a look at his highlight reel from 2025 (last season , not the one just ended) and the thing that struck me, was that for 10 minutes of his 'best bits' it was very conspicuous to me that the were hardly anything shown as to what happened after he won the ball - no assists, no passes shown leading to goals or even shots on (or off) target. no 40 yard passes, no passes changing direction of the game, no give and takes, nothing at all much (well maybe I exaggerate, there are some - but nowhere near as many as you would likely to see in a Sheehan highlight reel).

Granted that could be simply to keep the highlight reel to under 10 minutes but until I see any evidence of his passing ability, I would find it hard to consider him as being anything like a replacement for our playmaker.

Kenny sounding like he wants to fight for his place at Celtic

They seem to really hate him though

Seems like we've exercised the option of Christie's extra year

I wonder if the thinking behind that is that of having an old pro in the squad, lending maturity and leadership behind the scenes?

I doubt Christie will be a regular player in our Championship games, and with the moving on of Johnston, Dempsey and Tutu and being replaced by newer (and younger) faces (such as Watson if it happens), that it wouldn't be a bad idea to have a couple of old heads in the squad as well?

Just how I view his retention.

I didnt say a like for like replacement but here are a few examples: 1:52, 4:37, 4:44, 4:50, 5:05 6:56

Then why sign a new contract

I didn't say there were no examples but 6 passes in a 10 minute reel doesn't exactly prove your point (if your point is for him to replace Sheehan).

And if your point is that he's not a like for like replacement, then would you suggest we do away with having a playmaker (as that is what Sheehan is) and if we do move Sheehan on AND then replace him with a playmaker, then clearly the the new playmaker would be the one replacing Sheehan and not Watson as you suggest in your original post.

I'm not looking for an argument, I simply don't see the signing of Watson having a domino effect of moving Sheehan out, as your view seems to be.

Because he would have gone for nowt otherwise and at the time were still in league 1.
