Think Johnston would be decent backup in the Championship, so i'd keep him, as no matter what we'd need someone to do that anyway. Ultimatly though, if he has been offered a contract with that stipulation he might just have turned it down, regular mins might mean more to him than the level. Suspect he'll go to Blackpool, they're local and Evatt's the manager.

GJ and Dempsey both at a stage of their careers where the length of contract will be a massive incentive .

If anyone offers them 3 years then good luck to them.

More of a battler than a bastard I think but he looks alright to me

 

David Watson seems to be more of a box to box type midfielder, probably a similar younger version of Demps perhaps?

Probably need to see him in a pre-season friendly at Shrewsbury or Barrow before we definitively make our mind up on if he's an upgrade on Dempsey. 

 

Tutu? That's a real shock, he's been our best player and man of the match at Wembley for me.

Surely had it to kick on in the Champ.

Fair play to GJ & JOT, their performances have been very good under any circumstances, but knowing they were not being kept on speaks volumes about them, and SS' ability to motivate them.

I'd have kept them both, but I am a sentimental old fool! 

 

If that is Desmond's last game , what a fucking way to go out. Probably the best player on the pitch in all three playoff games. 

But I'm excited at how the team is gonna look come August. We knew the defence needed sorting.

This is quickfire stuff, no sentiment, no fucking about. There is no two ways about it - that defence has to be several grades higher to give us a chance of getting a foothold in the Championship. Vacancies duly created. A tinge of regret for the three involved but decisive and exciting.

I notice Schon is not on that retained list even though he signed a three year deal in 2024.

Surprised at a few on the retained list but don't expect them all to be staying .
