FFS. This isn't Behind The Stands. Most folk come on here to read bullshit rumours and conjecture, with the odd bit of accurate stuff thrown in. It's boring as fuck reading your personal squabbles.

We've just won promotion using a gaggle of players nobody else wanted, littered with injury plagued loanees and players that were cast as cart horses, one trick ponies and generally weak as piss.

He might have been Stokes third choice keeper but he became our number one keeper.

Will he still be number keeper, well if the gossip is true, he won't, some new lad is coming in on loan apparently.

Why are we bringing in this keeper on loan while we have four other keepers - well obviously because in the clubs opinion we need a better one.

I don't really understand why people seem to be getting all het up about all this - four existing keepers or 40 of them, the bottom line is we need a better one, why on loan, obviously because it is the best the club can achieve in the circumstances we find ourselves in (need a load of players / apparently not a lot of money to achieve that with).

Christ people moan about how long my posts are but if you add together all the posts people have written on the goalkeeper situation then it will be far lengthier than any post I've ever written.

Loans don't normally come for free these days, and we have to typically cover most of the salary too. I'm not worried about another Goalkeeper, I’m frustrated because there are plenty of decent Championship Goalkeepers out there for free, i mentioned 2/3 quality ones earlier, who we could turn into assets. The fact we now have 4 on contract the club don’t deem good enough is an indulgence. You can't moan about a budget when you've got 4 none playing Goalkeepers.

I suspect at least two will be loaned out.

I suspect Harkin/Schumache/Dickinson have looked at all the possible keepers we could recruit and deemed the youngster apparently coming in on loan is the best fit for both the team and the budget we have.

You can bang on all you want about loans and missed opportunity of signing players instead but at the end of the day but the decision is Harkin, Schu and Dicko's and they are extremely better informed about these things (both short term and long term) than you or I ever will be.

For instance if we could sign James Beadle on loan with an option to buy wouldn't that be a deal that both met our current need and benefit us longer term as well?

Obviously I have no idea if such a think might happen but you get the point I'm trying to make hopefully?

Broome and Hutch played at National league level last year. Harrington couldn't get a start in a mid table L2 Fleetwood team. At Best these 3 are getting a L1/L2 loans this season. Why did we sign them - no real idea. Harrington probably a panic buy in January. At 26 he's not really one for the future.

We effectively have one keeper - Bonham - for this level and he has his detractors. No issue with signing another and happy its on loan. Save our capital budget for a striker.

It's absolutely bananas that this even needs typing out as if we're gonna start the season with 4 goalkeepers sat on bench.

Maybe his calamitous time at Stoke was all part of the master plan.

Everything happens for a reason ha

Stoke fan I used to work with says they had to play their U20 keeper for a few games after Bonham went coz the other 2 got injured, and he wasn't ready for the step up

What calamitous time at Stoke? He was 3rd choice behind Johansson, arguably the best keeper in the Championship and Simkin so that’s some competition. Schuey may or may not bring in another keeper but personally I hope he doesn’t and sticks with Jack.

He was a figure of fun amongst the Stoke support.

Simkin and Johansson sounds like an American cop drama. Fuck yeah.

Really? That I didn’t know but if that’s true then clearly neither Schuey nor Fergal got the punch line and Schuey clearly knew him from his time there and decided he’d fit here so I suspect you’ve either been misinformed by the two, or three Stoke fans you know or you’re just making it up.

I think it was just the case we needed two goalkeepers at very short notice and with not a lot of money to spare, and they were both the best available in the circumstances

I wouldn't have a problem with Bonham being back-up but I'm not surprised we're looking to sign another goalkeeper

Absolutely this.

Not sure anyone has an issue with us getting in another, better goalkeeper, i question the wisdom of bringing one on loan, when there are free options available. We need a solid experienced head back there to anchor the defence from, how many times must our fingers be burned?

He was booed during a couple of games and he ended being dropped and phased out to being 3rd choice. He was made a bit of a scapegoat.

Their mongos were all over the socials when we signed him and after he made a few mistakes for us.

We signed him in a complete flat panic after the lad left the for US and TSL spat his dummy out and went back to Chelsea.

Turned out OK but let's not pretend the guy wasn't a liability at at times.

Genuine question because I cant be arsed looking...Who is free that's within our scope?

The one available on loan might be both better and cheaper, and might also be available on a loan to buy arrangement

We seemingly don't have a lot of resources and it's important we try and squeeze as much value out of our budget as possible to try and stay up

Any free agent good enough would likely want a multi-year contract and have interest from elsewhere, so if we think the one we're interesred in signing is capable, we can get him in and then reassess next summer

If you sign into one of the Stoke boards with one of your lusty accounts I'm sure you could see for yourself 😉

Paul Nardi, Brad Collins, maybe give Steven Benda a chance to rebuild his career he's only 27.

I wasn’t aware of any of that but in fairness he’s obviously improved significantly since he’s been here. I think we all saw with Billy Crellin how people can get on a keepers back and destroy their confidence and even more recently with TSL who was lauded the season before at Donny.. As far as JB’s concerned I’ll leave it to management and if they think we need another keeper then fine by me but I don’t share the criticism of Jack that yourself and many do.

They've hardly set the world alight

it’ll be interesting to see where Pierce Charles ends up on loan after signing for City. He was outstanding for Wednesday last year in a disastrous season for them. Wherever he goes he’ll be one of the best keepers in the division in my opinion….

Would be the best we could attract

"Martin O’Neill has provided an update on Johnny Kenny’s future amid reported interest from clubs in England.

The Celtic boss revealed that Kenny is still a few weeks away from returning to full fitness after injury but praised the progress he made during his loan spell at Bolton. O’Neill said the club will assess the squad once new arrivals are in before making any decisions on Kenny’s future, while also noting that the 23-year-old has returned looking stronger from his time away"

Returned looking stronger? He's injured ffs.

Unless they enjoy arm wrestling at Celtic.

He's just saying that rubbish to justify getting a few extra £ out of interested teams.
