FFS. This isn't Behind The Stands. Most folk come on here to read bullshit rumours and conjecture, with the odd bit of accurate stuff thrown in. It's boring as fuck reading your personal squabbles.

  • Sure it's that Mandela effect in full flow here that we all seem to be OK with this. It's a fucking travesty and complete shitshow. He's our most prolific striker by a country mile, has been

We've just won promotion using a gaggle of players nobody else wanted, littered with injury plagued loanees and players that were cast as cart horses, one trick ponies and generally weak as piss.

I'd forgotten about Randall- he's back in for training with the rest.

Wonder if we are looking to sell or loan out.

Can't see him being kept.

Don't imagine we'll have much luck selling him, same issue we'd have moving McAtee on, the lads all got a bump in pay with promotion. Only option for us really is to find someone willing to cover a portion of their wages for the year.

I think McAtee is on something around £12,500 a week now.

Pah! Wouldn't get out of bed for that!🤣

What are the chances of taking a hit on Randall, and offering a free transfer?

Get him off the wages at least.

We're not going to get anything like our money back in fee terms, so give him an incentive.

There would appear to be a release clause in his contract with figures of £900k to £1.5m quoted, neither of which are high for a promising 22 year old so if it’s genuine he’d be a good signing and even better if we could get his mate Tolaj too.

I know its just chat and it doesn't matter what we think or suggest, but careful what you wish for. Those are signings we would have liked to have made if we were still in L1, like for eg Wooton, Sidibe and arguably Olaofe at Stockport - they would improve most L1 attacks. We are in the championship and its no longer enough to sign a half decent L1 striker unless he's exceptional. Dalby is a half decent L1 striker unproven at this level, we could do with the next level up to partner him because that's what we'll be coming up against every week.

I get what you're saying but hard to bracket Randall with McAtee. One made no impact, the other hardly ever let us down when he played in league or cup, from the start of the season to the very end. Plymouth was the one exception obviously. Of course we want an upgrade for the championship, but if he stays he's bracketed with others we aren't sure about (take your pick from the entire squad) - but Randall and Taylor are in the next group who wouldn't be staying even if we were in L1.

Their increased salaries won't be much of an obstacle, Fergal will find a way round cutting our losses and funding their departures.

We are in no position to ask a fee for him, everyone will know we just want him off our payroll and to make room for another squad player. Same with Taylor.

Dan, Randall, Taylor... wtf was Evatt on? Complete clusterfck signings. You can't even say Dan was a gamble that just didn't pay off... we'd just had him on loan and he was utter gash

SS signed Taylor last June.

Agree on the other 2 obviously.

Presume this is why signings now have to be agreed by all 3 or whatever, they are signing for the club not the manager.

Sacré bleu. Presumably the Canadian is the afore mentioned Pebble. Let’s see.

Not the name I've heard.

The one we've had discussions with would be a loan from Europe, not the best record.

As long as it isn't Jebbison.

Not really JR, both are tipped for a move up in class so hopefully it would be a chance to get Pepple for a decent fee whereas we might not be able to afford ready made strikers. I know what you mean and I don’t disagree but the likes of Fergal and Schuey have to identify potential in our situation. I’d love established players but can we afford them at the moment?

Doing Dalby a massive disservice there. At the backend of last season he’s the man I fancied most to make the step up as a fantastic target man in the league above. Guess we’ll have to see.

I'm not sure Taylor is gash, we didn't see almost anything of him. (OK, what little we did see was poor) but something wayward occurred. I expect him to return to Scotland.

There are players I've really enjoyed watching for us in L1 and I hope they step up to the championship, the truth is I don't know if they'll be good enough, individually or as a collective because they have no track record at that level. I'm just glad its not upto us to make the big calls, I trust Fergal and SS will do that over this and the next transfer window. If I was having a bet I'd say Dalby won't be starting games in the championship in 2027/28, but I love loads of things about his game and character.

Thing is, if we loan to a Barnsley, we will no doubt have to pay part of his wages.

He Looked one of our better signings pre-season

Yeah absolutely, I think any team willing to take either on loan it's a given it won't be for their full wage.

Of all the players we were promoted with Dalby is the one i have most faith can step up in the Championship. He's like a better version of Gary Madine, much smarter and more physical.

Looks like another one in...

I know we're riding on a high and he's a great character and finished the year in fine form, but i just don't believe that's true.

Madine was soft and had a stinking attitude, but in terms of footballing ability I think he was significantly clear of what Dalby is. They're just different players entirely in my eyes.

I know people have likened Dalby to Kevin Davies, I think for me the player he's most resembled for us in the past would be Jutkiewicz, strong as an ox, brings others in to the game around him, occupies multiple defenders and will score you goals through bravery and presence.

But I saw Madine score free kicks, run past players and score from 20+ yards, I don't think you're ever getting that from Dalby.
